Sorry about that Mr ????" Prof Nnewi stuttered.
"Blue... Mr Blue," The other man replied going through the various artefacts the institute had on display.
"Do you still need those shades? Even indoors?" The prof asked, clearly disgusted.
"Rare eye condition," Mr. Blue replied; and before the prof could ask the name of the condition, he added, "now about the unlocked artefact..."
"Oh yes, yes, yes!!!" The professor directed Mr Blue to an irregularly shaped small metal sculpture on display. "The journalist had indeed informed me of his coming," the professor said. "But I can't be working for free. I spent money in writing about these things you know..."
Mr. Blue smiled tightly. "I do not intend to take much of your time, immediately, we are done, I would send in the balance of the agreed amount and a bonus for your troubles... Now tell me about the sculpture?"
Mr. Nnewi smiled. "Oh yes... He brought the artefact out the glass casement. "It's a 16th century piece... Maybe older than that... It's patterns are reminiscent of an ancient tribe of mother earth worshippers. Are you familiar with the story?" Professor Nnewi asked.
"A tribe of artisans with extraordinary gifts? I am very familiar, believe me."
Prof Nnewi nodded. "A few of them were said to craft these sculptures to trap powerful demons... Like a sort of prison... All nonsense of course!"
Mr. Blue stared at the sculpture. It looked like a complex lock that had be unlocked. "So who unlocked this one?"
"No one for sure! All the artisans were slaughtered in an inter tribal war, and only them were rumoured to be able to unlock it... But a couple of students came for excursion a few weeks earlier and probably knocked it down. We found it opened after they left."
Mr. Blue collected the irregularly shaped metallic object.
"The deceit of Satan. He gives power to one, but gives more to another to destroy the former. The artisans thought their magic insurmountable but..." The professor said more, but Mr. Blue had stopped listening, observing the artefact closely... "What was in it?" he asked, cutting off the professor.
"um..." The prof looked closely, the language is outdated but it translates some sort of night demon..."
"A night hunter???"
"Yeah, a demon that feasted on humans, at night," The professor explained. "Thank God it's not real... Goodness gracious."
"Yeah, thank god," Mr. Blue stated, transfixed on the artefact.
