My friend, Jesse, messaged me, “Yo dude, did you see the news?” I tell him I have. He asks if I want to hangout at the skate park. Jesse has always been one of those skater kids. I prefer to stay inside and play video games. “Sure. Cya in 10?” I reply. He says okay. I tell my dad I’m heading out and I leave.

    When I get there, I don’t see him. Late as usual, I think to myself. Then I hear someone call my name. I turn to see Jesse waving. He runs up to me, out of breath. He tells me, “Welp, skatin’ time!” I know what that means. He takes his shirt off, grabs his skateboard, and goes to the ramps. I blush. I’ve had a crush on Jesse for years. He has this jumpy and kind personality that I really love. A few hours later I yell for him to hurry up since I see rain clouds approaching. He tells me to go ahead without him. I say okay and head home. That was a mistake.
