It was 11:23 at night, and I've been in my bed staring at my dimmed computer screen on a music software, thinking as to what note to place or effect to add. There was nothing to think of, the song lasted about twenty seconds or more, and it was going be like my other songs: short, simple, planned to be much longer, and is never worked on again. So I just closed the software and played some ambient music from Youtube and tried to fall asleep. Ten minutes went by and I heard something coming from my closet, something that sounded almost like a generator humming. There were also lights coming out under the door with different spades of red and orange meshing together like an estuary. "What in the world?" I whispered tiredly. I opened the closet and, before I flew in like someone jumping out of a plane, I saw a spinning spiral of a spectrogram revolving around me and darkens my view.
"Oh God, where am I? Where am I?!" I screamed? Did I scream? I can hear the things I'm thinking of but not the things I want to say. Not like I can say anything, my ears are being barraged by a ton of different random noises that not even a Japanese Noise artist could recreate. I'm surprised I can heard myself think! I thought that send a text message to a friend could help me figure out here am I, but they were also asleep and not in this ironic void of sound and noise. I also thought that maybe sending a picture on social media would also help, so I manage to do that. I wasn't aware in that moment that time was at 0:00 without a date, and on a map app only showed this weird place that constantly moves around. I felt like I was having a headache, seeing this place morph around into this weird shapes. I think five minutes have pasted, as I decided to take a couple pictures with me if I ever get out of here; six minutes pasted and I hear one of my old songs... Spyware? It sounded like Spyware but completely different: no horns, no spy-esque keyboards, no guitars. It sounded like it was part of an 8-bit video game. I didn't realized that I had the record button on my phone after I was done taking those pictures so I guess I got a free song from here.
Forty minutes went by, I believe, and the... the Audalyst gave me a new experience. I saw its inhabitants form in way I couldn't describe by word, I saw waves flowing beautifully and chaotically, its strange image became a norm. I was, admittedly, at peace with this other world. But this peace quickly made me homesick; what about my friends and family? What about my home? My musical journey even? I shed a tear at the thought and then broke down, crying my silent sobs into the sound void. "Will I never come back?" I silently whined. The Audalyst calmed down its harsh noise and droning tone were replaced, maybe trying to sooth me. Dwelling as to it being a living being rather then another world is not important, I couldn't really think about anything else then me being here for the rest of my waking "days". My sniveling stopped. My tears were dry. I rolled into a ball and waited for my end.
I heard my alarm clock going off in my room, blaring heavy metal and breakcore that was mixed together. I'm back here again? Really? I checked the time and date on my clock, 7:48 AM June 21st, 2019. I put my hand on my head and felt my drenched forehead as I calmed down. "It was just a nightmare..." I said, relieved at first, then gasped as I can be able to speak again. I got out of bed to make me breakfast when I felt my phone in my pocket. That's weird... why would my phone be in my pocket while I was asleep? I looked at my social media and saw the picture I sent from the dream. I started to sweat again as I looked through the pictures on it. I then saw a picture of something indescribable but familiar. Was this my arm? It's so distorted and violent, but he can't help it that its felt so familiar to him. "The Audalyst be real?" I whispered. I looked for the recording I took in the dream, to see if those forty minutes of shifting noise and flowing melody were on my phone.
They were there.
