Dear Naomi,
I feel like I have dropped myself in the middle of some story. I know you’ll laugh at that and tell me I always drop myself in the middle of everything. Well this time I agree with you, you smarmy git.
I ended up going home to Freya’s place. It is just like she described in her posts. Look I didn’t just invite myself to the “Creepy” strangers house. A stranger who as mentioned yesterday is possibly the only person I’ve met outside our family who could probably bench press me. It happened in a roundabout way. After I wrote and sent out your letter, I really did start looking for a hotel or something to stay in. That was until Rei asked if I wanted to come get dinner with everyone who was left of our little mission team.
Now you know me, and you know that I find it hard to turn down food but with the cost of a hotel I was about to. That was until Rei said the magic words “I would of course pay for you.”
I felt a bit guilty. But not guilty enough to say no. So here I was traipsing after this angel with sky coloured hair as fluffy as the clouds like any stray puppy would do.
It was nowhere near the best place I have ever eaten at. Not even up to Cherry’s little forays into cooking at home but the atmosphere was good. I think a few of them were a bit nervous at keeping a conversation going between strangers. That wasn’t a problem, Freya and me got it all going. I mean I like to punch a bag at the gym a time or two, but it turns out she learns Martial arts in her spare time. No wonder she dealt with that little git so quickly. It went on well from there and any time the chatter dipped G would land some kind of strange tale that came from out of nowhere. I’m not sure that G is all there but they seem nice enough. A bit like Aunt Dorothy. In fact I think they have the same gift, you know the whole being in touch with the universe thing. That or all the herb smoke I can smell on G is getting to them.
Anyway. So alright food and good conversation. As we got to the end of it all Rei lent forward and asked us how local we all were. What were our plans for this evening and that sort of thing.
Brandon says he won’t be able to spend all his time with us as he has a project, he is working on to try and get into University. He’s local though so no problem there. G immediately says they are pretty chill and were probably going to crash under a hedge somewhere. That got Freya into Mum mode. All “You are not doing something so silly. If you have nowhere to go you can come sleep at mine. I have plenty of space and you’re doing me a favour in the first place.”
She then gave me a look between a glare and a look of concern. “You’ve come from a way off too. You got family or friends to stay with locally?”
I shrugged and even as I started talking about a hotel, I knew that she would not be accepting that as an answer. Rei looked a bit apologetic. I think she gets the idea of it being a bit much to be immediately invited into a strangers house. But hey I could get myself out of there if there was trouble.
And it wasn’t bad. Its very much a cute little country cottage but with a good chunk of space. I’m curled up under a homemade quilt watching the dawn rays creep through the window. In a minute I’m going to make some pancakes to say thank you.
I’ll write again soon.
Lots of Love,
Blue Xx
