He did not like the smell of hospitals. That pungent medical smell of freshly-cleaned tools and sanitized check-up rooms made his skin prickle with goosebumps. That first whiff when he entered the spine-chilling waiting room had him ponder of second thoughts. Maybe he could reschedule the appointment? Perhaps he could spend a few days to gather up his missing bravery pieces that he left behind on accident and come back later? He could not. He was already sitting down on a frigid plastic chair as just as he checked in with the lady at the front desk. He should have brought a sweater along with him, the nice blue one he liked so much. Calm like the sea on a moderate cloudy day.
He clutched his casted arm and squeezed it to apply pressure to his sore arm. The pale plaster that forced his elbow into place was a reminder that if he would have watched where we was walking, then he would not have tripped over a rock and fell chest first into the bumpy terrain. The sudden shock of pain that passed though him when his arm made sudden impact with the Earth beneath his feet made him feel dumber than when the moment happened a week ago. His brother told him to watch himself the next time they went hiking, but there would not be a next time. He knows that trying something new results in him getting hurt someway somehow. It could have been just karma playing tricks on him, but he did not believe in karma.
He glanced at his brother, reading a pamphlet based on common diseases and how to prevent them with little known facts. His name was Budge Keneton. Unlike him, Budge was a very sturdy person who has not been to the clinic as much as his little brother and sister. He was willing to try anything and everything, knowing that if nothing was ventures, then nothing was gained in the end. He loved his family, and he wanted to do everything with his family, with a plan or not. He was maybe a bit too active for him to keep up with, too ambitious, too earthy, but Budge does not know how to sit still and read a book for a few hours to relax. His form of relaxation would be running up and down the staircase until his legs went numb, then he would settle down.
