Dr. Vin began tampering with a hand-device. To Audiney, it looked like a hair-curler crossed with an airport x-ray. It was an x-ray, except it was used to read the levels of electricity coursing within him, and checking to see if it is balanced or not. He knew it would be balanced, because he never used it. Dr. Vin turned it on, causing it to glow that soft green hue and slowly waved it in front of Audiney's chest for a few minutes until a small beep was heard from the device, signifying that all the information has been collected in the separate x-ray room. He told Audiney he would be a few minutes, and then left him alone again with the silence.
Audiney sighed deeply, knowing the x-rays would consume to time in order to print in the next room. At least the doctor was nice. He surveyed the room, realising slowly that the more frequent his visits were in the past, the less intimidating it seemed, and the more he began to adjust to the clinical smell.
An itch metastasized on his arm. He reached up and scratched it with his blunt nails, gradually stopping upon the sensation of something sticky on his fingers. He looked at them. His eyes widened. He was hoping deeply that it was ketchup from the hot dog he ate for lunch. He smelled his fingers... he was wrong.
He noticed he had a small puncture in his arm, and could not recall how he got it or when he got it, and found it suspicious. He was having trouble trying to think of the last time he earned a scab there. His head spun and came to the conclusion it could have been a bug bite, rubbing his fingers together to crumble the blood and dust it away. Time ticked away.
