Nurse Bell set up a hand-held x-ray like the one at the doctor's office, and waved it in front of Audiney's chest. The mechanism beeped, and a few pieces of paper were printed out from a small printer on the metallic tray. She examined the results for a few silent seconds.
"When was the last time you used your powers?" She asked, reading the inked letters.
Audiney was hesitant to answer. He knew he would be using his powers in the near future, which was something he did not want to do for concern of safety, and did not know how to explain it. He shifted in his chair and cleared his throat.
"R-Recently," he replied.
"How long is 'recently'?" she looked up at him.
He had to spit out the truth. He had no other choice. "Three years since," he replied.
"My!" she exclaimed. "Your powers are extremely underdeveloped. That can be rather crucial to life. Why did you stop?"
"I electrocuted my brother on accident, and not wanting to hurt him again, I banned myself from using my powers."
Audiney blushed in embarrassment.
"It's alright." Nurse Bell reassured. "I have dealt with subjects much older than you who haven't used their power in over five years. It's very simple on how to fix underdevelopment; exercising that power. I recommend you should start off small. Can you channel electricity between your finger?"
"I think I still can."
"Then do it."
Audiney grew pale, and shook his head.
