I didn’t want the night to end but it did and we woke up early the next morning to attend the real sermons. For the first time in a very long while I woke up smiling because she was right next to me. I wanted to crystallise this, I want it every day of every week of every month in the remaining years of my damned life.
The temple was far away from the city on top of one of the few mountains in Green.
I drove everybody the car could carry there. It was too early for buses and we needed to be there early to be blessed according to the elders anyway.
Emerald wore her traditional gown; it was the legacy of the family; it was her great great grandmother’s gown passed down to all the brides in the family. It was a long loose sleeved dressed embellished with organza and the family token embroidered on the back of it With Golden flowers all over the dress. The front had a Wide Belt buckled with the token on her waist. Like an empress flowers braided like a crown intertwining with her hair; She was Stunning.
Varden looked humble in comparison. He wore his traditional suite black embroidered with his family token on the back with green. It was simple but both handsome and elegant.
They exchanged the vows and the tokens of both families, each family gave their token to the other as a form of merging and belonging, it was like a farewell Ceremony after that they leave to their new home.
While we were driving back from the family house where the last ceremony ended we stopped to look at the sunset the wedding was on top of a mountain and the view as we went back to the city was a marvel.
“I guess now you know Emerald, right?” I smiled.
“And Olive, too” She looked at me and put her hands on her waist. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your cousin?”
“I thought it was not necessary” I teased her.
“You enjoyed seeing me annoyed?” She asked
“But why would you?” I couldn’t help myself but to smile.
“You called her darling and love all the time, sure I would be you know that drove me crazy” She spurted out unconsciously.
“Why?”
“Because I l… you” she lowered her voice suddenly.
“I did not hear that”
“Because I love you” She said it more clearly but still I barely heard it.
“What was that?” I couldn’t stop teasing her she looked stunningly cute when she was embarrassed.
“Because I LOVE you” She looked at me.
“I LOVE you, too” I played with one of green locks in her hair.
“You know, I never thought there was so much to Green, I never thought I would be this happy here” She smiled at me.
