Once Roxas was deemed fit enough for release, the three finally made their return back to where this had all started. Back at Roxas' house.
Opening the door swiftly, Albel darted his gaze around in search of any other human life. None was found. Just a set of notes left pinned on the wall adjacent the entrance.
'I got the call from the nurse last night. Hope all is better by the time you read this. I appreciate everything Albel. Ryan and I left for work early and Izzie spent the night at a friend's house. Love Mom.'
Sighing briefly, he took the note and made absolutely sure it found a place in a nearby trash bin. "They're out. Again. You would think maybe just once they'd, oh I don't know. Leave work to make sure their only son hadn't dropped dead yet." The brunet clicked his tongue at the end before discarding his shoes and making way towards the refrigerator for a cool bottle of water.
As he turned and attention was diverted, Orion who had followed after, as quickly as he could scribbled a question down. Then raised it up in hope Albel would answer once the beverage was attained.
Perhaps he held his board up too high. Or perhaps Albel turned too fast, but as he went to return the way he came, his face smacked right into the board beside him.
"Owww." He rubbed at his nose and sent an unappreciated look to the ghost. "Watch where you hold that thing."
Orion puffed out his cheeks in defiance and just to spite the other, further shoved the whiteboard into his face.
"Okay okay, I get it!" The slightest bit of annoyance he had immediately disappeared at the childish gesture and he broke into a laugh. "Hold still, let me read."
The over excited ghost calmed himself and held the board as still as he possibly could.
'So what's the deal with his family?'
Unscrewing the cap to the water bottle, Albel took a rather large gulp as he walked towards the living room where Roxas made himself comfortable before answering. "Busy parents who seem to think their work more important than their children. Hell, I probably spend more time here than they do." Huffing, the now even more aggravated male practically threw himself on the couch cushion beside his friend. "In my opinion, a parent should be there when their children are most weak. But what do I know. I come from an even more dysfunctional home."
Floating his way slowly over, Orion quickly wiped off his previous question and started another.
Almost as if he sensed exactly what he was in the process of writing, Albel shook his head. "Don't bother. It isn't important to know."
Letting his arms fall to his sides, he felt distraught and yearned to know more. Maybe by knowing more, he'd be able to in some way or form help.
Noticing this, Roxas felt a sympathetic smile take over his face. Patting the space between himself and Albel, he urged Orion over. "I think what he means, is that he doesn't wish to talk about it now. Don't worry."
Biting the side of his cheek, Orion still pouted but agreeingly made his way over to occupy the space between them.
It felt...both awkward as well as intimidating in a way. Despite himself being above average in height, the both of them made him feel small. Wrinkling his nose in contempt, the ghost did his best to sit up straight and continuously turned his head to each as he tried to somehow force himself taller.
Roxas found himself breaking out into a giggle fit as well as tears at the sight. "I'm not entirely sure doing that will magically make you grow taller." Wiping away a tear, he felt his earlier grin overtake his face and found himself drawn towards the now flustered ghost beside him. "Nothing wrong with being a little shorter. You know, it's actually a turn on having a height difference."
Right on command, Orion felt his whole body turn a shade darker than usual. Granted, because he was transparent, it was not visible. However, Roxas could imagine how much better it would look had he been alive.
"I know you can't see this, but, because I'm such a nice guy I'll share what I see. Little Ori here is flustered. Why, if I were able to I'd grab him by the wrist, pull him to my chest, and give him a nice ole smooch right about now."
Albel could only imagine how it must have looked. Boy would he have loved to see such a scene. "You're not alone there."
Struggling to speak aloud, Orion scrambled to write out a message in response. 'You're both horrible!'
Erase.
'But….'
Erase.
"But?" Both questioned and watched in anticipation.
'But...I wouldn't mind if you did. Kiss I mean!'
If there was a time he'd wish he was flesh and bone, this was the most he felt so.
"Well…" Roxas started and leaned over.
"We may not be able to properly touch you. But the action can still be done." Albel finished and leaned over as well.
Trapped between the two who inched in on him like predators to their prey, Orion brought his whiteboard to his chest and gripped tight; afraid he'd lose it if he let go. His eyes drifted closed in anticipation.
Even without sight of his target, Albel was able to feel where Orion was, and simultaneously landed his lips to Orion's cheek as Roxas claimed the other.
This was certainly one way to forget the unwanted things.
