CJ was on T.A.P.S. school grounds; her hair was in a puffy ponytail. Her father had agreed with Brenda about after-school activities. Unfortunately, they chose the Student Council committee, which was led by the S3s. She had to take their orders; these events would be on her permanent record. They were slightly Radikal, but they still called her Cicely. They were in preparation for the School Carnival. She was given the run-down, on the way things worked in the Council.
Lyndie was first. "Welcome! It's so stellar to have you! Um...are you like, a smart--?"
Margo interrupted with one flip of her hair. "Hi....so glad you're here. We have just the job! Follow."
They led her to Krystal, who was standing by the fun house.
"Hi, there! I need you to cut out all these heart shapes, we're gonna hang them in the halls next month."
"Kindness is returned by kindness." Reuben said
"Um, would you please...cut these shapes out for us, Cicely?" With that, she and her friends walked away.
She did just that, she didn't have to like it, but she knew that it would shut her father and Brenda up, completely.
She suddenly heard a chime from her HC Receiver, it was from Pamela.
"Incoming Message" the robotic voice said: CJ, I HEARD ABOUT YOUR CAR ACCIDENT. I HOPE YOU'RE ALRIGHT. I'M INSISTING THAT YOU TAKE SOME TIME OFF TO RECOVER, THERE'S NO RUSH IN COMING BACK. BESIDES YOU DON'T NEED TO BE OVERWORKING YOURSELF.....CONSIDER IT AN EARLY VACATION. She rung up her boss, she felt she needed to tell her, something.
Pamela answered automatically; she was annoyed. "You never listen, do you?"
"I try not to. I might have a slight problem with authority." She replied proudly.
"Might? Huh! I told you take some time off!" she said
"I am! It's not like I'm there, you know." CJ said.
"If you're calling work....you might as well be at work!." Pam replied
"That...makes no sense!" CJ said,
Pam sighed. "Why are you calling?" she inquired
"Because! I got forced to join some after school club! On top of that, my Choice might get taken away! Plus it's possible that I'm goin' crazy! All because of this guy who--" she stopped short, someone was watching her from a reflection in the Imager.
[It's him!] She thought. She turned around; no one else seemed to notice him.
In CJ's eyes, he wasn't hard to take in. He was beautiful, but she was fed up with his disappearing act and would face him head-on. A highway separated them, but that wouldn't stop her, she was on her own mission. She casually walked toward him; no one seemed to notice her.
He was just standing there nonchalant; his shirt was light red. His demeanor changed as she got closer, enough to make him glow. She stopped in surprise, could no one really see him?
[He really was...glowin'.] She thought and continued walking.
He still waited there glowing, and staring, he looked sad.
"Now I've got you, Magic Boy." She said to herself.
She was taken aback when she heard a horn.
It was a freight truck, which was passing; it blocked her view of him. When it distanced, he was gone again. She ran across to where he was, nothing.
[No way!] She was angry now, and a little confused. She saw the S3s waving and ordering her around. CJ wasn't expecting a reprimanding lecture. She rolled her eyes, but nodded her head; she looked back for him, still nothing.
Peter watched her walk away. "At least she's safe, for now." He said and jumped.
Hours had passed, and all were on break. It was a productive day, even for CJ. She was in deep thought. Maybe she was crazy, she just wouldn't tell anyone. She was eating alone, until a familiar face joined her. "So, you come here often?" A voice asked, CJ turned and smiled.
"Romy! Wow you look--different." She said. She was sporting a navy blue jumpsuit, suitable for the tasks at hand. It wasn't glamorous like her Cheer leading uniform, nor could it make her stand out. It was strange for CJ to see her dressed so, average. She noticed Romy's fully turquoise, green hair; it was jet black when they first met, with turquoise ends.
"So, you're a part of this Council thing too?" CJ asked
"Yeah, it takes time away from.... other things I guess." she answered
"And the hair is?"
"Oh! Just somethin' to keep me spicy!" She boasted, they both flipped their hair dramatically, and laughed.
"'Sup, Romy and...Romy's friend?" a voice said
"Hey! Zane, this is CJ. CJ this is my flyer, Zane."
"Hi Zane, nice to meet ya." She said, he took her hand, and sat down.
"It's nicer for me...C-dot." He said and winked. "Uh, thanks." She casually pulled her hand away. Zane Treziak was a male Cheerleader. He wasn't the type of person you discussed Stock Options with; he was unique with his hair covering one eye. His beanie and torn jeans, made him appear harmless, but CJ didn't mind, she liked any Radikal.
"You gotta be new 'round here. I'd never forget a pretty face." He said
"Nope! Been here for some time." She said, he took her hand.
[Not again!] She thought in annoyance
"Forgive me for taking so long to notice." He said, and kissed it
"Oh Zane! I feel.... faint!" She fell to the floor, a trick she learned from Doug.
"I'll get some help. Romy, let's get her inside." He said, he elevated her, and accidentally stroked her spine.
"Ah! Don't--" CJ sprang to her feet, she was ticklish. "I'm okay!" she looked at Zane and continued. "You're too much man for me to handle, Zane." He smiled and ran away, she looked at Romy.
"He's used to flirting with girls, not them flirting back. " She said, they laughed.
"So, what's new?"
"Got into a car accident. I might be crazy. I might have my Choice taken away--"
"Whoa! Somebody's having a big week." Romy was floored with this news.
CJ heard another chime from her Holo-Cyl Receiver, it was her father "Incoming Message" the robotic voice said: CICELY, THEY MANAGED TO FIX YOUR CAR, BUT YOU'RE STILL GROUNDED. I'M LETTING YOU PICK IT UP; DO NOT CRASH IT THIS TIME, I'LL SEE YOU WHEN YOU'RE HOME. GOODBYE.
"Everyone!" Margo called. "Super job today! Same time tomorrow! Now--off you go!" She made a hand gesture as if to say shoo.
Everyone started to depart, but CJ was first.
"Uh, guess they're lettin' us out, on good behavior." She joked
"Somethin' like that! See ya Tuesday!" Romy said, and they split in other directions.
CJ ran off quickly, the further the better. She was too quick to notice someone collide into her.
"Hey! Watch where you're g--"she stopped when she saw him. "G-Gainor!"
He rose to his feet. He dusted his pants off, he was angry. "Well! Ms. Dixon, I see you still manage your Radikality."
"Uh-- sorry 'bout that. I gotta go...S-Sir." she said. She saluted and ran again.
"Um, Sergeant...what are you doing here?" Krystal asked. Everyone stared at him in respect, and fear.
"Button! I'm here to pick you up," He said, they all looked at her skeptically.
[He did NOT just call me that!] Krystal thought. She looked at her friends in embarrassment. "Fine! Take me home. I'm tired anyway. Please, don't ever call me that in public." she said, and got into the coach.
