- Left hand pinky finger! Left hand pinky finger! LEFT HAND PINKY FINGER! Arghh! This is pointless, I just can´t do it! - I yelled out loud while trying to learn this new martial art.
- Jake, you can´t force it out just like that. In order for you to be able to use your inner power, you have to believe in it. Everyone have the winner power within them, but only a few have the will to use it. - explained my master while placing his hand on my shoulder.
Meet young Jake, a 10 years old kid, training with his grandad about how to use our inner power in combat. It was the most sacred martial art that ever existed in our planet and a very dangerous one.
- If you belive that you have it in you and that you can bring it out, you will be able to use it just like I do. Left hand pinky finger! - said my master while flipping his left pinky finger forwards and making a hole on a large bolder.
- But grandad, it is just too hard... - I stated with a very tired look in my face.
- Nothing in life its easy my young grandson. If everything in life was simple to get, to do or to achieve, then everything would be meaningless, because everyone would have it. - he explained once more.
- What do you want to be when you grow up? - he asked me while we both sat on the floor resting.
- I want to be an astronaut! - I stated while opening my eyes and lifting them in the air.
- An astronaut? That´s a very interesting choice. And why is that if I may ask? - he asked me once again.
- Because I like to look at the stars at night and watch the planets on the telescope. I want to travel the universe looking for new things and maybe reach to a star and grab it with my hand. - I replied while looking up to the sky.
- Do you believe there is life somewhere else in the universe, outside of our planet earth? - he asked me, lifting his head up and staring at the sky as I was doing.
- I... I don´t know... Maybe... People say that we are all alone... Is there any other living beings grandad? - I asked turning my head to him.
- Of course there are, the universe is infinite. There are so many planets and galaxies. Why would we be the only beings alive. I will tell you a secret my grandson, but you cannot tell anyone. - he stated while looking around to check if someone was close by.
- What is it? I promise I wont say anything! - I replied while opening my mouth slowly and showing a face of curiosity.
- When I was young, when I was roughly 14 years old, I was standing by a ledge of a cliff, upset and desperate. I felt like everything was going wrong with my life and that I wanted to end it short there. But just as I was about to jump off the cliff, a glowing being came to me and enlightened me with knowledge. It teached me how to use my inner power and calm my mind. - he stated while pouring some water in the fire next to use causing a small cloud of mist to rise in the air.
- What was it grandad? - I asked, even more curious.
- It was a celestial. A being from out of planet Earth. A being from somewhere else in the universe. It approached me and guided me through. It stood by my side for sometime, but one day it could not stay any longer. - he said making an upset face as if he still remembered that memory like it was yesterday.
- What happened? - I asked slightly upset and worried.
- It reached the end of its life. Celestials can only live for a short amount of time. But before it died, it holded my hand and made me glow. I could feel celestial energy running within me. Then it smiled to me, said goodbye and vanished into a stardust of light into the air.
- I am so sorry grandad! - I said, giving him a warm hug.
- It´s okay, every being has to die someday. Nothing lives forever. - he stated looking at me and seeing me yawn.
- You seem exhausted. Go home, eat something and have a rest. You can come back tomorrow for some more training. If you carry on pushing yourself, one day you will become strong too. - he said throwing me a red apple and giving me a warm smile.
- Alright grandad, I mean Master! I will be here tomorrow early in the morning for some more training. I want to become as strong as you someday! - I stated while turning away and running home with a wave of goodbye. The temple was high in the mountain, so there were a lot of steps I had to run down until I reached the road that would take me home.
My grandad was a monk. He had been one for a very long time, maybe since he was young like me. It is stated that he was the wisest monk that ever lived and I was proud to be his disciple.
The next day, I came back to the temple and as a shock, my grandad was not around. He had left to the city to buy groceriesand other supplies. Instead of just waiting for him, I decided to just start practicing. I kept trying and trying but was unable to reach anywhere. My frustration was boiling in me but, I could not give up. If I wanted to ever become as strong as him someday, I would have to push myself to my limits and maybe beyond. So I carried on practicing for the next two years.
6 years later
- How is the training going Jake? - asked my grandad giving me a gentle tap on my back.
- It is going great master! I have been practicing with my ring finger now! - I stated while still practicing my attacks.
- Good good! Show me what you can do now? I wanna see how much have you improved since we first begun! - he requested while looking at me.
- Left hand ring finger! - I shouted, causing a big hole in the training bolder.
- That is amazing! You are able to make much larger holes now! Your skills have improved so much and so fast for someone of your age. - my grandad stated with joy and happiness on his face.
- I have been working the hardest I possibly can! - I replied while cleaning the sweat on my forehead.
- I can see that! But I can also see that you are hiding something from me! Aren´t you Jake? - my master was a very wise man and fooling him was nearly impossible.
- What do you mean? - I asked showing him a semi confused face.
- Oh! Don´t try to make a fool out of me! I know very well that you are hiding your true strength. Why don´t you give the last finger a try? - he requested while poiting at his left middle finger.
- But master, it is forbidden to use the middle finger! You told me to not use it! - I reminded him while shocked that he knew about my true strength.
- Ha Ha Ha Ha... Then why have you been practicing it at night all alone, while everybody else sleeps? - my master stated.
- How do you know that? I was always... I mean... - I did not know how to react or what to say, I was caught by surprise.
- I have always known Jake. I have been seeing you for the past 5 months from my window. I have never questioned you or said anything because I was admiring and analysing how much further you would go! - my grandad replied with a serious look on his face.
- Now show me that true strength of yours! If you surprise me, I might give you something unique! - my grandad stated while sitting on a bolder next to me.
I took a breathe and flipped my left middle finger causing the middle top of the bolder to turn to dust.
- Not bad! - stated my grandad but, he was not surprised at all. The look on his face seemed disappointed.
- Come on Jake! Is that really your best? Stop hiding your power! What are you afraid of? - my master started to question my fear and my ansiety.
- I... I am... I am afraid to lose control and hurt people. - I replied while looking at my hands.
- Jake! If you follow the path of fear, then your heart will become covered in darkness. That darkness will be the cause of your lost of control. Open your mind, clear your thoughts from any fear, hate, doubt and pain. If you ever achieve that state, your powers will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. - he stated while closing his eyes and crossing his legs. He seemed like he was just meditating.
I took a deep breathe, the deepest breathe I ever took. Then, I tried everything I could to clear my mind and in the end I shouted:
- Left Hand Middle Finger! - the flipping of my middle finger caused the whole bolder crumble into dust and pebbles.
- Now that is what I am talking about! Not perfect but a much more clean and pure power. - my grandad stated while standing up and cheering me with joy.
- I am so sorry grandad! - I apologised with a worried face.
- Why are you apologising for you silly goose? If you are worried about the large whole of destruction you made on the wall of the temple, then don´t worry about it! Walls can be repaired, just like wounds can be healed. - he replied, looking at the large whole that my attack made on the back wall of the temple.
- You have surprised me Jake. You truly did! I knew that your will power was strong, but I was not expecting to be this strong at such a young age. - my grandad stated while giving me a bread to eat. We were walking towards the pond that was close to the training grounds.
We walked to the pond and we sat there eating and talking. The pond was gorgeous. It had many colourful fish swimming about, beautiful aquatic plants and a small waterfall created from stacked bolders. We stood there talking for the next 4 hours, until the sun went to sleep and the stars were covering the black sky.
- The sky looks amazing! - I stated while lying on my back and looking up to the sky.
- Indeed! Did you know that stories say that every single star in the sky, is a human soul from those who have passed on? I believe your grandgrandfather is up there guiding us. - my grandad stated while also looking up to the stars.
- Is that really true? I thought they were just many other suns in the universe. - I replied curious with what he was saying.
- That is your astronaut way of seeing it. But I see it differently. I believe that one day, I will also be there shinning your way, Jake! - my grandad stated with sadness on his face as if he was trying to tell me something in riddles.
- What do you mean grandad? - I asked with worry.
- Jake! I told you before, every being that lives in the universe will die someday. It is the law of life. No one can live forever. After all, I am an 87 years old man, who is reaching the end of his life. - he replied while throwing some bread crumbs to the pond.
- Don´t say that grandad! You are still healthy and strong. - I replied while feeling the tears forming within the corners of my eyes.
- It´s okay Jake! I knew this day would come. I have been pushing myself to live further so I could see you grow. You have become strong and mature. I am so proud of you my grandson. - my grandad explained while tears started to fall from his eyes. I quickly hugged firmly to my grandad and my eyes could no longer hold to the tears growing, forcing them to fall.
- I don´t want you to die! I need you! You are all I have. My parents abandoned me when I was young and the rest of the family doesn´t remember or know who I am. You were the only one who took care of me and cared for me. Don´t leave me! I don´t want to be all alone! - I requested in tears and sadness.~
- You will never be alone. I will always be in your heart as long as you never forget me! - he stated while placing his hand on my chest.
- Jake! I want you to have this! Take it with you! I will help you through out your life. - my grandad stated while closing his eyes. Suddenly I started to glow all over my body with a bright light.
- This is.... - I was saying before my grandad interrupted me.
- Yes! It is the Celestial Power given to me. It would be a waste to die while still holding it. I give it to you. I believe that you will use it wisely. Take my legacy with you and become the Astronaut you have always dreamed of becoming. Make me the proudest grandad in the Universe. - my grandad explained and requested and giving me a warm hug.
- Do you promise to always guide me and never abandon me! Never leave me all alone! You are the most important person in my life. - I requested while hugging my grandad in tears with my eyes closed.
- I will never leave you! I will always be with you, in your heart and mind! - he stated while vanishing slowly into stardust light in the air.
When I opened my eyes, his body was no longer there!
