The automobile was quietly purring leaking jazz-like music on the radio as it left our suburban town through the winding roads and began down the starting point towards a downtown urban nightlife.
The surrounding buildings were tall and sturdy with neon lights flashing with 2 for 1 special alcoholic beverages. I spot several men and women walking clumsily down the street linked arm in arm heading into loft motels for a rendezvous they probably won't remember half of in the morning, and the occasional crew of party animals ready to hit up another destination for round two… or three.
My eyes roll as I look away from the window coming face to face with a large lazy smirk.
“Are you not used to the nightlife, Miss. Kaelene?” Caspian asked while inching near.
The close proximity of his was making me almost claustrophobic; but now that he was so close, I got a better-detailed look at the face who shared my best friends genetics. From what I gathered, to say the least, he's definitely the type to be suave enough to steal the hearts older women yet mischievous enough to swoon over young girls having him be a father's worst nightmare. Definitely not my type. “Nope” I replied, scooting closer over to Cal, “Never really had a want for it I guess but I guess there's a first time for everything”.
Cal sighed looking over at her brother. “I mean seriously Cas not everyone enjoys the nightlife as much as you do I mean even I have my limits, I'm just doing this for my pure Kae Kae”. Cal looked over at me and pat my hand; “it's gonna be great! I promise but I’m definitely not leaving you alone at any place my brother takes you.” She hugged me close“He’s like legit a demon in disguise.”
Caspians eyes flashed with excitement, “Oh I assure you sister that is an understatement of the century.”
I remained quiet as the siblings continued with light banter throughout the ride. it did make me kinda happy to hear siblings like this, it reminded me of Payton. Oh, how I hope he's not going to keep himself awake at the door all night. I giggled slightly at the thought and Cal and Caspian stopped mid bicker in interest.
“And what is it your giggling about Kaelene, surely there's not something on my face is there?” Caspian spoke moving his face close to mine as Cal made gaging noises with her throat. With his face now inches from mine I caught a certain smell, nothing like Cals rose perfume she often wears but something softer being masked from pungent cologne.
“Lavender?” I questioned.
“Well, I’ll be damned you could smell that?” Caspian replied raising a brow as if his interests had been piqued.
“Maybe some other type of flower as well?… man Caspian never knew you would be the type to have such delicate tastes in smell.” I said making an observation, as Cal then began silently snorting in her seat slapping my back while Caspian looked flabbergasted turning towards the window with a sulky expression, I Even caught the chauffeur catching a curios glimpse at us through the rearview mirror.
“What's the big deal no need to be all sulky Caspian,” I teased gaining zero reaction from him when he quickly stated, “Oh look at that, we've arrived.”
The onyx ride came to a gentle stop in front of a building whose bass you could feel from the very car alone. Caspian got out of the car first helping Cal and I then after with a blank face.
Taking in the club in its fullness was quite the sight. It was about two stories high enclosed in an all tinted glass that looked to be almost black, made of all iron with a sphere infrastructure at its peak. It was quite an interesting build with words “Looking Glass” in gold lettering decorating the outside of the building.
Caspian walked ahead towards silver doors that seemed to be the entrance and Cal and I then proceeded to follow, walking tightly next to each other and caught up to him speaking quietly to two of the good looking security dressed head to toe in black at the front with conversation ending with a tight nod from both of them and Caspian motioning us to come over.
Holding the door open as the security eyed us stone-faced I was like could feel their cold stares through my bones.
The doors closed behind us and the noise I heard was almost deafening. I looked over to Cal who looked more worried than excited to say the least and I understood then exactly why she wouldn’t have wanted to have me alone in any place her brother thought of as fun.
