“Oh god am I finally losing my mind?” He rasped out to himself, lifting a hand to his ear. He rubbed slightly. His mind must have just imagined someone talking to him. Surely it hadn’t been that long since he’d had human contact? Well, it probably had. He spent most of his time talking to people on forums since his choices in the real world were…limited, at best. And even when he went to perform in concerts in Great Falls, he hardly spoke to anyone. He knew people whispered about him as being the weird pianist, but he really stopped caring. Sort of. Okay, not really.
But it was sort of hard to approach people after you heard them call you that.
“Stop doing that,” he murmured softly, relieved by the sound of liquid draining into the pot. A few moments later, the machine gave its usual overly loud beep to signify the coffee was ready. Theo grabbed his mug from the sink nearby, and poured himself a glass. He was exhausted, really. Maybe that was why he thought he heard someone had called his name.
“No more sleeping in the chair for you…” he groaned softly, and then stretched out his muscles a bit, rolling his shoulder as he took the first sip of coffee. He didn’t bother with sugar or cream, taking it black as the nail polish he had worn in high school. Theo heard a shuffling sound behind him, but didn’t turn. It was probably just the dragon trying not to slide around on the linoleum floor again.
“Theo!”
The voice sounded again, from behind. Only it was deeper, and in a sharper tone. This time, there were footsteps accompanying it. Heart lurching in his chest, Theo once again whipped around, gripping onto the handle of the coffee cup, prepared to slaughter his foe with its burning contents. A soft choking sound of surprised caught itself in his throat, his jaw dropping, as he took in the sight before him.
A tanned male stood before him, fully naked in all of his glory. Shockingly silver hair adorned the man’s head, bright, familiar purple eyes stared at Theo as the man took one step closer. Theo heard an audible squeak pass his lips, unable to grab onto the coffee mug as it slipped from his hands. The cup crashed to the ground below, ceramic shattering, scalding hot liquid splattering the floor. He was lucky nothing splattered on his poor unprotected feet. But really, Theo’s mind was only focused on the man in front of him
The naked, strange, oddly attractive man. His brain spat out the last part of it, and then went into a chaotic rush of thoughts. What. Was. Going. On?
“Theeeo,” the man sounded his name out, a perplexed expression passing his face. A faintly thick accent colored Theo’s name from the man’s lips. Theo’s scattered mind couldn’t place exactly what it was, though. And Theo honestly wasn’t sure it mattered.
There was. A naked man. In his home. Just. Standing there.
A man he’d never seen before. Who was currently walking towards him.
“W-w-w-wh,” Theo stammered out, lifting a shaky hand to point at the man. His chest started heaving, panic gripping onto him. The man looked confused for a moment, head whipping around, as if looking for someone else. His mind wanted to scream that the source of his panic was him, since he was the only ever one there. Actually, his mind just wanted to scream in general. But the sound was only slowly working its way out of Theo.
When their eyes met again, the man’s head tilted off to the side. The logical part of Theo’s brain flagged something familiar about the way the man looked at him. But the majority of his mind was too deep in a near full panic attack.
“Theo, wh-”
At the sound of his name from the strange man again, Theo’s mind took off in full panic mode. He inhaled deeply, chest heaving, eyes wide. His brain roared with terror and the sound of his own voice. In a flight or fight situation, apparently Theo’s mind took option 3. Screaming.
