Unsettled by Mr. Keiliel's casual demeanor she plopped herself down in the red velvet cushioned chair. The hostess glided her chair forward tucking her in and signaled a waitress to come forward with the menus. The waitress handed them each a menu to review and poured them the complimentary wine. Mr. Keiliel smiled and patiently waited for the waitress to return to her station in the corridor outside the dining area.
After hearing the door click Mr. Keiliel focused his attention on Lila. Awkwardly, Lila's back straightened as she sat there politely with her hands folded in her lap. Her bosses brows furrowed slightly at her discomfort. For the first time since meeting him, Lila fully absorbed with her greedy eyes his good looks.
Mr. Keiliel was an accomplished and esteemed young business man, and yet his face held no lines of stress. His shoulders were narrow, but his slender frame was still lean and had tints of muscularity underneath his well tailored suit. His limbs were long but in a graceful sort of way. His hazel eyes were soul piercing and serious. His pitch black hair was in a messy manner that somehow still seemed to ooze professionalism. There was a thoughtfulness to his lips as though the words he spoke were hand picked for the person to which he was addressing. He really was an attractive and very eligible bachelor.
He took a deep breath and then inquired, "Ms. Peaks are you unwell? Please do relax, this is a casual meeting. I was under the impression you were available to have lunch today was I incorrect in that assumption?"
She felt her shoulders unknot as she heard the sincerity in his voice. Was this really the same man who gave her 20+ errands this morning? Steadying herself she responded, "No sir I was free today, I don't know many people in this city yet to even start plans. I apologize for causing you distress. I am fine, however this environment is slightly out of my comfort zone."
Mr. Keliel made a soft 'oh' sound and proceeded to pick up his menu and flip through it. Lila nervously also covered her face with her menu. She was right about this place the prices weren't even on the menu. Taking a steadying breath she looked through the traditional Chinese dishes. Her eye catching on two dishes. To order a sweet and sour chicken noodle bowl or a general sou's chicken noodle bowl that was the question. Decisively she decided on the first option. Her mouth was quiet sensitive to hot dishes, and general sou's sauce was known for chili flakes.
Silently folding her menu and placing it in front of her she noticed Mr. Keiliel's intent stare. Instinctively an unwanted heat rose to her cheeks. Flustered she unfolded her chopsticks from their napkin and folded it in her lap to distract herself. Looking up after her insisting fiddling she saw the waitress had just popped into existence and was taking his order. The waitress looked at her unexpectedly and in her nervousness she blurted, "A general sou's chicken noodle bowl... Please."
The waitress noted this and quickly left the dining area. The room was quiet as their table was the only one in the room with people seated at it. Although it was supposed to be the lunch rush, exclusive restaurants like this must not have been very busy on a weekday basis. The silence between them was agony. Lila, who was too intimidated by his stare to meet his gaze, shifted uncomfortably and fiddled with the napkin in her lap some more as if that would stop her anxiety.
Clearing his throat Mr. Keliel spoke up shattering the tension filled silence. "Well Ms. Peaks although I said this was a casual visit, I feel as though talking business is the more appropriate choice at hand. So your new daily duties as my personal assistant are; to join me for lunch, being me coffee in the morning- the same order you did today- keep track of my schedule, answer phone calls to your desk and make appointments with top tier customers. I understand that at your old company you were a high executive and I hope we can make this adjustment process seamless for you. I know you must have questions as to how this could possibly have been a good job opportunity for you," his eyes darkened a mysterious glint clouded over them as he folded his hands on the table and continued. "You see, although you are my assistant for now, it won't be that way for long. Really this is just a way to introduce you to my world and to have us in a close work relationship. You see, I want to make you Chief Executive Officer of Pro-tech industries."
