Lila at that moment felt as if the ability to move was drained of her. Shocked still with the words ringing in her ears she didn't even blink. Fearing she was unwell, Mr. Keiliel leaned forward against the table, his brow etched in concern. Feeling faint, Lila unsteadily asked, "Sir, are you quite sure about that?"
Mr. Keilel smiled, assured that she was okay, he easily replied, "Yes, Ms. Peaks. We thoroughly planned out for your arrival and transition from assistant to high executive and then CEO." He seemed genuine, but Lila still felt faint like this was a dream. She never would have entertained even the idea that she would be able to attain a CEO position, let alone the salary. Unable to hold the dizziness off any longer she slumped back in her chair and everything went black.
In her dream a voice came to her. She felt warmth envelop her as she looked up to see she was standing beneath a beam of light. The voice, sounding an awful lot like a fortune cookie told her, "Very soon you will have good things drop into your lap. Greet them openly or you may regret it. These things may be life changing for you. The Sandman will guide you, if you but follow the dust and don't let it blow away."
She awoke with a start gasping for air as the warmth pressed in on her from all sides. Opening her eyes she was greeted with Mr. Keiliel's handsome face up close. Looking at him now she could clearly see the golden flecks speckled about his iris like stars strewn about in the sky.
"Are you alright Ms. Peaks?" Mr. Keliel asked his face etched in concern. This seemed to be his most popular expression today. Gingerly touching her forehead Lila sat up and took in her surroundings. They weren't in the restaurant anymore but instead she was on his office couch. Wondering how she got there, she looked up at him in confusion.
He hastily replied, "After you didn't wake up for twenty minutes I thought it would be best to bring you back here." Nodding she looked at her hands and without thinking blurted,
"I can't believe I'm going to be a CEO! This is a dream come true!"
