Night came, and I laid in bed staring out the window. I could see the moon clearly. I still couldn’t move my legs on my own and I could barely stand the pain of touching them. I had asked John and Nick to leave me alone for the night.
“Cloe!” I put my heads over my ears as I could hear my classmate’s voice calling for my help. Help that only got him killed faster. I glanced over at the glass of water for a moment and grabbed it. I poured the water on the floor and stared at the empty glass.
“What is stopping you?” I glanced up to see Tomas at the end of the bed.
“What are you talking about?”
“You are thinking about breaking the glass, right? What is stopping you?” He walked around the bed and got closer.
“I wasn’t going to break it…” I mumbled and tried to avoid eye contact with him. I could tell he was trying to mess with my head.
He laughed and got closer. I could see his hand dragging on the bed. I could feel him then put his hand on my leg, “I think you should break it. If you don’t, you won’t be able to fight back well against me, will you?”
I began to feel a slight sting on my right leg as he put more pressure down, “Please, I didn’t do anything to you.” I begged.
“You saying this makes me angrier. It was a long time ago though.” He began to crush my leg and before I could let out a cry he covered my mouth with his other hand, “Shh, we don’t want to have this moment interrupted now do we?” I could feel tears stack up as they hit his hand. His eyes were now pure black. “Your friend that Mr. Jones invited left recently. Sad you didn’t get to say goodbye to her, but I don’t think she would have cared. Like you may have already been told, she was owned by another, sent to that school only to help spy and report on the stronger users. Her owner works there too actually and helps her. She knows how to do as she is told without her emotions getting in the way. You though…” I felt as my leg begin to crush within his hand, “I begged him to buy you when I found out you had been caught by chance. They were really only after the instructor, but when you showed up, they simply couldn’t miss the chance. You were always miss perfect. You did whatever you were told when you were told to do it by almost anyone.” He leaned in closer to my face, “It pissed me off, you treated me as though I was nothing more than dirt. And when I got the chance to be your partner, you told me I was too weak. You were even a few years younger than me, but you saw me as if I was nothing. The kid’s arm was crushed due to you. I wanted to show you I wasn’t weak. I wanted you to notice me.” He let go of my leg and grabbed my one arm that was trying to push his other hand away from my mouth. I could feel his breath against my skin now, “When I was kicked out of the school, I had nowhere else to go. My parents had dropped me off and ran. Mr. Jones though could see I had true power.” He kissed my forehead gently, “If only you could have seen it too.” He leaned back up while smiling, “He may have told everyone that you were bought to match with Nick or John, but in reality, he bought you to be my toy. Tonight, was a warning, do as your told just like you use to always do back in school or else,” He let go of my arm and my mouth and slowly moved towards the end of the bed. I felt his hand wrap around my ankle then, “I’ll have to break you.” He began to crush my ankle in his hand. Without thinking, I finally broke the glass on the side of the table and swung one of the broken shards at him. He let go as I missed and laughed. My hand was now bleeding as I gripped the glass tightly, tears streaming down my eyes. He walked towards the door and slowly opened it, “Have a good night, Cloe.” He walked out and closed it behind him. I looked down at my hand which was bleeding on the sheets now. I watched my vision come in and out.
“Why? Why is this happening to me?” I laughed as I felt numb to all the pain he and I caused to myself. I was on great amount of pain killers already which seemed to be working great. My vision became worse and worse till finally I passed out while laughing to myself.
