I know that James is just looking out for me but I’m going to just find a place to rent on my own. I don’t want them to know where I live. I came to the closest apartment complex to the university I would be enrolling in. It was around ten stories with at least one hundred apartments. So one of them had to at least be vacant.

I opened the door and walked up to the receptionist. “Hello ma’am, I’d like to rent an apartment here.” I said giving her a plastered smile.

“Sorry honey we don’t have any open.” She said not looking up from her computer

“Um well thanks anyway.” I said and turned to leave. I wasn’t watching where I was going and bumped into someone. I almost fell but they grabbed my arm and that’s when I realized it was a he. I jumped back which made me fall but I didn’t care. I was too afraid. “I’m s-sorry.” I said and got up trying to ignore the spot he touched. I could feel the spot he touched burn. I was like I was on fire.

“I heard you looking for an apartment.” I nodded “Well you can be my roommate if you want as long as you don’t have a problem with two cats.” He seemed nice enough, but I probably shouldn’t because he’d probably be repulsed by an abomination like me. He was really tall though and he had the blackest hair I’d ever seen. He was beautiful. As soon as I thought that I mentally slapped myself.

“I don’t know. You probably won’t mean that.” I said under my breath.

“Well since you didn’t say anything, I’ll take that as a yes.” He grabbed me hand and led me to his apartment.

“Can... can you let m-me go p-p-lease.” I was shaking but I didn’t want to be.

“Are you okay? You’re shaking. Are you cold?” He reached out but I dodged it.

“I’m really sorry I just have a bit of a phobia with coming into contact with…uhm men.” I said hating how weak I sounded.

“Oh… I’m really sorry. Why didn’t you just tell me?”

“Aren’t you going to make fun of me or something?”

“What why would I do that?” He said looking at me like I had two heads. I just ignored his question and started to look around.

“B-by the way what’s your name?” I asked

“I’m Ryan. What about yours?”

“Seth. I’d shake your hand but….” I trailed off. By the time I finally got the courage to ask we were already inside the apartment.

“Don’t worry about it. Um your room is at the end of the hall on the right. The bathroom is across your room and mines beside yours.”

“Thanks” I said and went towards my room to set my stuff up. I opened the door to a plain room with a full-sized bed with a dresser. “Not bad” After I sat everything down on the bed, I went out, but I nearly walked into a night sky black cat. It had glowing green eyes they were really similar his owners.

“Aww you’re a cutie.” I said and started to pet its long fuzzy fur. It brushed against my leg and meowed. I picked it up and walked to the other end of the hallway.

“Ryan?” I called but didn’t see him anywhere. Then I saw a note taped to the door.

I’ll be back in a bit. Take care of Dreamcatcher and Winter for me. P.S. those are my cats the black one is Dreamcatcher and the white one is Winter.

So he left a complete stranger into his house and then left. “Well I guess I’ll feed you guys really quick then I’ll just take a nap.” I said and found the cat food and made sure Winter and Dreamcatcher both got their food then I decided to go to my bedroom and take a nap.
