By the time the ship arrived at the new island, night had fallen. The island was noticeably more advanced and populated than the previous one. Once Julius got off the ship, he was led to his next destination uneventfully. Despite still being covered in trees, the island was dressed up with lights. One would not be called a fool for believing it was still day.
"So those tickets got us on the boat, but what about the airship?" Julius asked once they were out of the large crowd that got off of the boat.
"Well, let us just say somebody owes me a great favor." Potter smiled and the two continued on their way.
The station looked like a giant metal cube, no, it was a giant metal cube. The steps up to the entrance seemed to never end, yet nobody looked fatigued. Almost instantly, Julius noticed the lack of people leaving the station. The only ones outside the building were either protecting or entering it. Also, there were no ships nearby, no launch pads, nothing.
Something didn't seem right in Julius's mind.
"How exactly does this work?"
"We go inside, we get on the tram, and it takes us to the only commercial airship on the planet. It is currently docked, but it will be leaving soon."
"So that's why there are no people leaving?"
"Sure."
"Sure?"
"Yes, that does seem to be the case." They got to the counter where a strange man in all black armor spoke with Potter in a seemingly different language then before. Julius waited patiently as their voices began to rise and then lower. After a few minutes of arguing, the two were granted free tickets.
"I'm glad to have you here, Potter. If you weren't here, this would be a long-ass journey."
"I'm glad to help, my friend."
"Why did you stop to talk to me, anyways?"
"It was clear that you are not from here, so I was hoping I could help you get out of here as I was about to myself."
"So I came just at the right time, huh?"
"Indeed."
"Thank you, Lady Luck." Julius and Potter boarded the airship, found two seats near the back, and got ready for takeoff. "You know, this is a surreal moment for me. Normally something would be going horribly wrong, but there's not a damn thing happening."
"It is just as I said earlier, you are in someone else's shoes right now."
"Hopefully it stays that way." Julius looked out the window as the ship started to slowly rise into the air. The ship leaned back, then forward, then back again before lifting up off the ground. It started to shoot forward in the direction of the old island.
The uneasy feeling had not left Julius's stomach since he first met Potter. What he saw next, he had no idea if it was real or if it was his nerves getting to him. As the ship flew past the island, he could've sworn he saw a black and yellow striped ship sitting at a seemingly abandoned port.
It was real.
As the ship flew into the atmosphere, Julius closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Almost an entire day passed when they finally arrived at their final destination. This time, Julius knew where he was. It was a planet named Relk. A distinctly large and green planet, Relk was home to many intergalactic ports. The crime was almost nonexistent and so were the politics. Relk was generally accepted as a safe haven for all, and even the most notorious of criminals respected that. Julius had thought about living out his life on Relk, but the fauna is bit too poisonous and the real estate is just as nonexistent as the crime.
"So, here we are." Potter looked around in awe at the mass of plant life. "This is Relk. I have never left my home planet before."
"Really? Welcome to Relk, then. I've been here before. It's nice, but don't overstay your welcome. Everybody tries to be nice here, but the longer you stay, the angrier they get." Julius led Potter to the next station where the shuttle was set on course for The Great Galactic Palace. "That's where I need to go."
"The Great Galactic Palace! I have heard many awful stories about that place."
"Your planet is unknown to the rest of the world pretty much, so you don't really know that place. It can be nice, trust me."
"Okay, I will trust you. Now how do we get on this ship? I do not deserve any favors from these men."
"How sneaky are you?" Julius grinned and motioned for Potter to follow him into the large crowd waiting to get on the ship. They managed to easily sneak past the overwhelmed security, and as they boarded the ship, they chose the most unfavorable seats way in the back so nobody would disturb them.
"You are smart, my friend," Potter laughed as the two of them sat back, awaiting takeoff.
By the time the ship finally lifted off the ground, both men were fast asleep and crowded by strangers from all over the universe.
