I was always such a warm, cheerful and bright lady, top of my class and Co-Deputy College President at that. Though my popularity with boys created rivalry between myself and the Head College President, I was always so fond of her, perhaps much more than I should have been. Just because like her name she was a graceful and beautiful Jasmine.
Besides the President, It was always so easy to attract boy and girl friends and at first I thought that my good looks and dazzling personality gave people the urge to be around me, but later realized that the money my parents own is more attractive than I thought. So, in the end, those friends I thought I had were only bought. Of all the friends I made Brian and Lille were my best-friends, I thought that I could tell them anything and everything.
Once my secret was out though, it was too late…
On the last day before Summer break, I was just leaving College to make my way home and for the first time in so long, on my own. I felt that something wasn’t right, so then noticed that I forgot my umbrella and the rain was too forceful to confront. I switched directions to make my way back to class however, on the way there I kept on stumbling across other students. Particularly one group of girls from my class who wouldn’t let up, begging me to go bowling with them. Of course I refused, knowing of their intentions for asking me to come along. I’m not stupid enough to not notice that whenever I’d go out with them, I’d always just become their purse. So, to escape and calm their yearning, I gave them three hundred pounds worth of voucher to share and spend at my family’s Hotel Spa. Looking behind as I Left them, I sighed at how ridiculously satisfied they’d seemed, with their gleaming and starry eyes.
‘YO...pea-brain’.
Turning to the sound of my co deputy, I hurriedly shouted. ‘Who’re you calling pea-brain, Aiden?’
‘Well there’s no one else around…so you Tavia’
‘Seriously, don’t you know I’m too popular to waste my time on someone who thinks of me like you do, and it's Octavia to you.’
‘Oh, it hurts…why shoot me in the chest like that?’
‘Look I don’t have time for this’, I ended the conversation at that and left him in metaphoric tears.
By the way that dummy is my co deputy for you, Aiden, he’s Jasmine's Cousin, but how could they be related. I mean just thinking of her gives me butterflies, isn’t that what love is?
By the time I had reached the classroom door, I heard Brian screeching to the top of her lungs, laughing and as usually enjoying her time at gossiping. But as obnoxious as she'd sounded, she raised a smile on my face until...
‘Oh Octavia?’, ‘No we’re not friends, she’s so full of herself and the only good thing about her is the money her family owns’
‘Yeah, I know right…her money’, Lille agreed laughing with Brian.
‘But don’t tell her I said this, but she's always had this huge crush on you’
Echoing from Jasmine’s voice came, ‘Ewe, how gross’.
