'Where the hell could he have flown off too?' Albel grumbled to himself while making his mad dash through the city.
He tried every where he could think of.
The bakery downtown where they had the most blissful meringue used for pies and the like. According to Orion, just a tiny taste made it feel as if he was rebirthed, only to die again due to the intense flavor. He himself always thought that was perhaps a little over exaggerated, yet anything to please his ghost.
Yet no luck. No sign of him.
He had even searched the halls of his university. Each lecture hall he or Roxas frequented, Orion did as well. Perhaps he had some urge to rush back after an incomplete day? Could he have been waiting there for him all along?
Hard as he may try to search, the whole not being able to see ethereal type beings increased the difficulty of his search. Still from what he could tell there was no sign of him. If there was, surely he would have seen a floating pencil by now. Or perhaps heard a scream from an unsuspecting victim.
Nothing.
Which worried him even more.
On the other side of the city, Roxas conducted his very own search.
First he started at the local grocery store the three of them already had multiple memories in. Orion would get distracted by a lost child, or a sale he could have sworn he had seen across the way and find himself drifting away from the group.
It would typically take Albel or Roxas as much time to shop just to find their wandering ghost. If ghosts could wear leashes, Ori would be sporting one.
While strolling up and down the aisles, a familiar shape and faded color caught his attention. Roxas increased speed and sprinted past confused patrons until he caught up to what he had seen.
It was the ghost of an elderly lady. Doomed to spend the rest of her days surrounded by the sales she loved more than life itself.
It wasn't Orion.
Roxas felt a pang of disappointment in his chest while breathing out a sigh. Where on earth could he have gone?
As he stepped out of the store defeated, a thought hit him.
One he wished he hadn't thought of. For panic quickly enveloped him.
What if Orion lost the chains that kept him here? What if he decided he was no longer welcome; that it was better if he disappeared? Stupid ghost!
Roxas let his mind wander and body tremble until the sound of his phone ringing shook him from these thoughts.
"Hello?"
"Roxas!" It was Albel. It sounded as if he was out of breath and perhaps even in the midst of running as he spoke. "I think I know where he is!"
Without even knowing which direction he was headed, Roxas felt his legs start to move. Step by step until he broke out into a jog. "Where! Are you sure? What if we're wrong and we can't find him and-"
"Relax." As if on command, he felt his nerves do just that. "Do you remember that park near your house?"
Twisting his expression in thought, it didn't take long until he started nodding. Of course, the other couldn't see this. That didn't stop him. "The one with the bushes. With the hidden pathway to the tree and the overhang above the city. I remember. But why-"
"Don't worry about why. Just meet me there. I have a feeling. Trust me." With that, Roxas was greeted with the annoying dial tone beeping.
Trust me.
He trusted his intuition. Perhaps even before he knew where he was headed.
Before he knew it, his legs already had him headed straight for the park.
