To my dismay you were a star
Which illuminated but a sliver of the dark -
A glittering treasure to behold
In an endless void of misery.
And I, a black hole,
A mere remnant of celestial light,
That would drain away your glory
Out of misguided want.
I longed for your guiding light
And reached out to take it,
Forcing acceptance of your fate
Made miserable by my hands.
I made you like me, and yet
I could not comprehend why -
Why was my light still gone?
Where did yours go?
So now we two, wandering and broken
Separated in search of that warmth
Spreading our emptiness across the cosmos,
Longing to consume the sun
If it would bring us any sense of fulfillment.
