The T-Rex was obedient and listened to every one of Lucas’s commands. Being the Shadow King had its perks. The animal took Raven and Lucas all over the prehistoric era. From the lake to a river, to the mountains, to volcanoes. Even to the cave men’s dwelling.
The cavemen shadows recognized their king and bowed. They questioned their king about the presence of the human girl. The news of a human girl falling into the Shadow Lands was an important event. It not only meant that someone was trying to break out but also their world might be in danger.
Lucas assured them that the situation was being dealt with and that there is nothing to worry about. He promised that he would protect his people, and he would always stand by that word. The cavemen still held doubt but trusted their king.
Before he bided them farewell, Raven conversed with the cavewomen, who were present as well. They held such wonderous conversations, but they also teased their king about the new female presence in the palace. His face turned completely red, and he immediately dismissed them. In the same gray light, he teleported himself and Raven to their next destination…The Renaissance Era.
Upon arrival, Raven marveled at seeing the age of knights and princesses. Especially since the Medieval Era was the setting of her favorite epic, The Legend of King Arthur.
“Lucas, are we gonna meet King Arthur?” she asked with glimmering eyes.
“No,” he chuckled. “I am afraid King Arthur was too good to be put in reality,” he patted her head.
Lucas realized what he was doing and drew back his hand. He apologized with slightly pink cheeks, but Raven was not bothered by it. Instead, a grin formed on her lips.
“Let’s explore, shall we?” she invited, grabbing his hand.
“O-of course,” he blushed.
Although Lucas was meant to be the guide, Raven took him everywhere. From the floral rural farm fields to the elegant noble housing. She even witnessed a jousting tournament first hand. Her smile was as radiant as ever. Lucas couldn’t help but stare at her. In all his years, he’s never seen anything so beautiful.
“My king!” a voice announced.
Lucas broke his thoughts and looked toward the voice. It was one of the kings from the era! All the shadows of past kings, queens, and their descendants resided here. It was something, that if not handled properly, could end up in a disaster.
“King Henry, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Lucas greeted.
“No, no, the honor is mine,” Henry bowed. “Tis’ not every day the Shadow King graces my era with his presence.”
“Yes, well, I’m merely passing by,” Lucas glanced at Raven, who was admiring the knights.
King Henry gazed over and saw the girl to which his king glanced at. “My king is that the human girl that fell into your realm?” he questioned.
“Yes,” Lucas confessed. “I am showing her around, so she can grow familiar with my realm.”
“But is that wise?” Henry boldly pressed.
“Pardon?” Lucas glared.
Henry realized his mistake and immediately corrected himself.
“I-I mean to say, is it not dangerous for a human girl to wander this realm?” he corrected. “If I remember correctly, humans are fragile, especially females. If she were to get hurt…”
“That is why I am escorting her, and you would do well to never question me. Do I make myself clear?”
“Y-yes, my king,” Henry slightly bowed.
Lucas didn’t mean to snap at Henry. It was just…he already felt guilty for getting Raven trapped in his realm. She told him it wasn’t his fault, but how could she forgive him so easily? Because of him, she was taken from her home. Imprisoned in a world where danger lurks around every corner. Especially the danger that brought her here. He was still no closer to figuring out who broke the barrier. Who could be so strong?
