"It was all a test?" Lila croaked looking at him in disbelief. Marcus' expression became embarrassed realizing he shouldn't have said that.
"Yeah, but you're the first to have passed it so you obviously deserve to be my CEO remember?" he said trying to quickly salvage the situation. It was like a switch flipped. Anger overtook her face and her hands clenched into fists, the knuckles turning white.
"SO, YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT I DROVE AROUND TOWN ALL MORNING GETTING YOU'RE STUPID @#$% AND IT WAS ALL A TEST? ARE YOU NUTS???" She shouted in anger. He reached out to grab her wrist and explain, but he was cut short when she jerked her hand back. Tears leaking out the sides of her eyes in anger she turned and started to run to her car.
It was quite comical from a different perspective. A woman in a restricting pencil skirt running in heels across an empty parking garage. A man stood looking after her running figure, his expression dumbstruck as his hand was stretched forward trying to grab empty air. At least, it was comical until a loud CRACK rang out, followed by the noises of struggle as Lila fell to the ground.
Urged out of his frozen position Marcus rushed forward to help the poor woman. He ran to her side and crouched down beside her analyzing the situation. She clutched her left foot which had ripped panty hose and a broken heeled shoe limply covering it. Her face was scrunched up in an expression of pain. Carefully he slipped his arms beneath her and picked her up. Princess style he carried her to her lonely blue car at the end of the lot. She unlocked the car for him her teeth clenched in pain. He laid her down in the back seat and secured her. Getting in the drivers seat he prepared to start the car when-
"What do you think you're doing?" Lila uttered through gritted teeth. Looking at her in the rear view mirror, he took in the sight of her ripped up panty hose, her broken shoe, her skirt even had undoing seams where her left leg was.
"Do you really think you're in any condition to drive?" he said softly before starting the car. Giving up she leaned back against the seat. The silent drive was luring. To escape the sharp pain in her foot Lila felt herself losing grip of consciousness.
"Where do you live?" he asked to the silent car. After moments of no reply he looked up to see her in the review mirror. Her closed eyes and her peace filled face told him that she was asleep. He slipped his phone and entered her address from memory. He smiled to himself. It didn't hurt if she thought his assistant was the one to make those notes. What she didn't know couldn't hurt her right. Besides it was for situations like this that he kept all his coworker's info in his phone. He he not known her address he wouldn't have been able to get her home safely.
