Very early, Maria had a passion for the paranormal, the occult sciences, black magic or divination. Her room quickly became a warehouse where she stored a collection that ranged from spell books to sacrificial daggers, tarot cards, magic plants and stones and crystal balls.
This increasingly cumbersome junk had the gift of annoying her father who would have preferred to see her passion for her studies or at least for activities a little more feminine...
She studied old grimoires in a very studious way and really believed in witchcraft. Sometimes she would talk about it with her childhood friends, who would play with it and sometimes even serve as a witness or guinea pig for her experiments. They were often bitter failures from which they laughed afterwards. The only area where she really got results was divination. This specialty allowed her to make herself known and soon, she trained her first disciples. Being a group, allowed him to move to a higher level, the success rate of the spells increased significantly and the group began to trade magic. Not only in areas like clairvoyance but also with black magic, even if it remained quite harmless since they could barely cause hallucinations or cause clouds of insects to appear.
Soon the small group rose up as a vigilante, punishing those they considered evil, of course with a modest payment from the victims.
But soon Maria's appetites were no longer satisfied by this childishness and she decided to organize a real black magic ceremony. It took him no less than three months to make the preparations, the most complicated had been to find a place that was both energetic, accessible and discreet. It was through divination that she discovered the entrance to a long underground passage leading to a sort of crypt located under the cathedral.
When they discovered this crypt, it was in a sad state, the entrance was half blocked by stones, the ground covered with rubble was invaded by rats, in the back of the room, they had even found remains of human skeletons.
Soon, the dusty crypt had become a real room of sacrifice. The rubble had been removed, the rats eliminated, the room had been fitted out with some furniture found and renovated and in the centre of the room had been erected a stone altar which they had covered with a red blanket. From then on, everything had become simpler, they had set up a sort of secret base in which they had gathered all the material at their disposal. They met every night to organize this ceremony. They had a lot of fun, it was a bit like preparing a play, you had to prepare the costumes, the set, the artifacts, revise the incantations...
Then finally, the fateful day arrived, Maria had not slept all night, trying to imagine the appearance of the demon. She asked herself a thousand and one questions that gave rise to a mixture of impatience and anxiety. Would he appear in person, would they hear only his voice without seeing it, or would he communicate with them through a small animal as in some legends. Most writings agree that demons do not attack those who invoke them but what if he rebelled against them? Would he be satisfied with the offering? Would he give them his powers?
