The circle soon adopted a new leader: Karin, one of its first disciples. Maria and Karine had known each other since childhood but it was difficult to understand why they were so different friends. Karine was a cold and hard woman for whom the end justifies the means. She excelled in everything she did. She had only joined the rose circle to acquire magical powers that she could use later. She only dreamed of power and wealth. Karine had witnessed Minos' appearance up close, but far from scaring her, it had reinforced her conviction that she could take advantage of the demons' existence. Her only fear was Maria because even if for the moment she was standing aside, it was not excluded that she would oppose her one day. It was therefore necessary for him to quickly acquire a power superior to that of Maria. And for that, she would have to invoke Minos but she would not make Maria's mistake, she would give him the most beautiful sacrifice: the soul of a pure young girl. And she knew the perfect candidate: Erica Tamani.
Karine had few real rivals, she had always excelled in everything, whether for study or leisure. But recently, his supremacy had been shaken. Erica beat her twice. She had first deprived her of her place as concertmaster in the orchestra before stealing her first place in the medical school competition. The worst was the disconcerting ease with which she had dispossessed him of everything. Karine devoted her life to her studies and music, while Erica took the time to have fun and even allowed herself the luxury of a love life. No it had to stop, this girl would no longer deprive her of the glory to which she was entitled.
A few days later, everything was ready to summon Minos, Karine had voluntarily hurried things so as not to give the other members of the circle time to think.
Erica had been drugged enough not to resist, she was lying on the altar, completely naked and helpless as her executioner approached her with a sword in hand. Around her were voices reciting strange incantations.
Karine's hand had not shaken, she had shot down her blade without the slightest pity. She was watching Erica's pierced belly bleed. Behind her, the murmurs of the other girls brought her back to reality. Everything went as planned... But then, why? Why didn't Minos show up? Her brain was spinning at full speed to try to understand what might have failed while behind her, panic was beginning to win over the other girls. But suddenly, everything seemed clear to him, if he did not appear, it is that Minos expected more from her... Obviously, he had understood to what extent she was superior to all the others and he gave her a challenge at her height....
- "Blood! We need more blood! »
Karine looked up in search of what was missing, her eyes looked around the room without really seeing anything and then froze on one of her comrades. She raised her blade again and then shot him down with a sudden gesture, she barely felt the resistance of her victim's throat when she cut it. Blood was flowing but it seemed ridiculous. She then began to frantically chase away the other girls in the room in search of the blood she so desperately needed. She only stopped the carnage when she stood alone in the middle of the room dripping with blood. It was at this moment that the light that heralded the arrival of the devil appeared.
She threw her sword to the ground and raised her arms to heaven.
- "Minos, come to me! »
She already saw herself inheriting the absolute power that would allow her to assert her superiority to the world.
But the dream was short-lived, a pain pierced her chest, lowering her eyes, she saw the end of a blade coming out of her chest. Turning her head, she understood what was happening to her. Erica was behind her, sword in hand, alive. The blow she gave him wasn't fatal. What a mistake, that's why Minos didn't show up and that's why she was collapsing now. Erica didn't make the same mistake she did. She gave him a second blow to the head to make sure Karine was dead.
Thereafter, Erica would have made a pact with the demon to survive and would have ended up also being carried away by the curse two years later.
