The Only Thing I Did Wrong

Dreams

Dreams

Jul 24, 2019

The day of our wedding, I was dress in a nice black tux that was recently fitted onto me. Tyreese is my best man and my whole family was here, cousins and all. Sadly, the only people from my wife’s family was Jason, her older brother. He didn’t care that his parents were mad at him, but his mom secretly wanted him to at least be there since she couldn’t go because of her husband. Jason was the one who will be walking Vanessa down the aisle.

I had my vows written and could barely contain myself. Hearing a knock on the door “Eh, man you ready it is time,” Tyreese said coming into my dressing room.

I took the deepest breath I had and said, “Yea I am ready,” as I made my way out of the room and into the wedding hall. I see my family all quieting down, there were probably some of them who were badmouthing me about a shotgun wedding and such but at this moment I could care less. Still seeing my mother and father here for me made me a bit sad for Vanessa, since her parents weren’t here. But we got ourselves into this mess we will live with it.

Waiting there for Vanessa to come out, I hear the wedding song that she wanted. It was “Wedding Bells,” by Depapepe, she loved this song and always wanted this to be the one which she walks down the aisle. Seeing her walk down the aisle with her beautiful wedding dress I felt like I just want time to stop right now so that I could enjoy this bask of elegance. She was more beautiful than she had ever been, I couldn’t had asked for more if I wanted to this lifetime. Jason was escorting her and was going to give her away to me, he had the confidence as high as a mountain peak but today he was sure stiff. As they reach down the aisle, he gave her a big hug and whisper into her ears softly, “I hope you have a great life little sis.” She hits him softly on the chest and whispering back “I will big brother,” as they let go of their embrace.

As she came to me I held her hands and just felt like crying at how beautiful she was, she saw my wet eyes and almost tear up. “Stop it,” she said hitting me softly on the chest trying to stop me from crying, because she knew she would cry if I did so.

As we say all the wedding mumble jumble we get to the vows. I look into her eyes and she looks back, we both mesmerize by each other stare as we say our vows.

Vanessa:

I vow to always hold you when your sports team loses or cheer when they win. I vow to always see your point of view through our problems and work things out. I vow to always admire the great man that you are, and I vow to always make sure you stay they great man you are. And lastly, I vow to become someone you can rely on and come to when things are bad. I will always love you.

Mine:

I vow to love you even when you make me want to tear my hair out. I vow to comfort you when you cry about a fictional character. I vow to love you more each day and will never stop loving you from here on out. Sure, that you are never with a day without a smile. And I vow that until the day I die I will never let you go.

After the I do, we went to the reception, and party it out. Of course, she was 3 months pregnant at this time, so Vanessa abstain from drinking, so that means I had to do the drinking for the both of us. Many friends and family were coming to congratulate us or coming to just get me wasted. Still I could sense that Vanessa was somewhat sad that her parents really decided to not come, but kept it in. Not wanting to make her cry on our special day I stop myself from saying anything right now. I just know that I will have to make it up to her for the rest of my life.

After the reception, me and Vanessa made our way to the Limo which proceeds to bring us to the hotel. I was drunkenly idiotic in the car spouting nonsense while embracing my new wife. I kiss her, but she pushes me back saying “Not until you get to the hotel and brush your teeth,”

I drunkenly said, “All right then my wifey,” the proceeds to giggle to myself because she my wife now. She giggles a bit to hearing me say wifey because what we wanted had come true.

We get to the hotel and she helps me into the elevator, and we made way to our room. Immediately there I went to the bathroom and puke my guts out. It got most of the stuff out of my but I was still entirely drunk, I did what she asks of me and brush my teeth and use mouthwash trying to remember not to drink it. I then proceeded out of the bathroom and took off my tux and shirt.

She was laying down waiting for me and I went to go lay right next to her. I held her hands and said, “I love you.”

She caresses my hair and replies “I love you too.”

The next day waking up with a bad hangover we made our way to our honeymoon. It was a trip to Hawaii, something she always wanted to do. She wanted to see a real volcano and view the nature of it all.

Getting to the airport was a hassle for me since I was hungover as frick, but we made it. “Honey can you get me some water,” I said as I sat down feeling miserable.

She smiles and went to grab some. I look around and pray this hangover goes away quickly. As she walks over to me holding a water bottle, she looked like an angel that fallen to earth bringing me sweet nectar from the heavens. I quickly chug that bottle water and proceed to spend my time with her.

“How are you feeling now,” she calmly said grabbing my hand and holding it. “Miserable, but this makes it all better,” I reply motion the hand holding. She chuckles a bit and said, “You are always the smooth talker.” Squeezing her hand, a bit “Oh, am I, that must be why I got such a pretty wife.”

“Who me,” she said acting and point to herself. “Who else but you.” I said giving her a small peck on her hand.

Arriving in the big island Hawaii. It had a sightseeing program to see some volcanos, so we opted for that one. We went to our hotel first to check in and was amaze by all the nature around us like the palm trees and endless ocean view from the other side. It was very different from our home back in California, but not to different at the same time. Since we had beaches and palm trees as such too, but the whole atmosphere is all different.

Checking in, we were greeted with big smiles and warm welcomes. As we made our way to our room, I could see the excitement in Vanessa eyes. She wanted to go explore already so as soon as we put our stuff away, she bolted out of the room, without resting. Instead of a cab we went on a nice walk. There were many stores and restaurants around and she wanted to try and go to them all.

We went to go eat at this seafood place that served amazing poke. I wasn’t a huge fan of raw fish for the longest but has gotten accustom to it since Vanessa loves sushi. Eating we see locals and tourist a like, it was a busy place and the food was good.

Next, we went to many different stores and she bought many souvenirs, as I was following her store after store the day just kind of blew past us. Before I realize it, it was nightfall already. We decided to go to a restaurant that was doing a luau and we went to enjoy a dinner and a show.

Sitting there watching it, I observe Vanessa and her reactions to most of the things were so cute. She loves the dance they did to fire show that show braveness. This is probably the reason why I was smitten by her. Her thirst for knowledge and her imagination through it all just bring an allure to her that I never get enough of.

On the last day of the trip we were hiking up the trail with our tour guide. We were in a group and were to stay together. “You ready Hun,” I said holding her hand and supporting her.

Being quite tire easily from being pregnant she said, “Yes I am, I always dreamt of this moment.”

“Hey, didn’t you say that about our wedding?” I said sarcastically pouting at her. She smiles putting her hands on the side of my face and answers, “Well I have many dreams ok and I hope to seem them all occur.” She then moves my face closer and kiss me “Having fulfilled two dreams in one week, now that is what I call progress.” She whispers softly to me. “Pretty soon,” I said placing my hand on her stomach “another one will be fulfilled.”

Reaching the top of the volcano there were flatland of cool-down lava. Then we made our way to the hole in the volcano where all the lava came from. Seeing all the lava was a sight to behold and seeing it with Vanessa made it even more special.

We finished our honeymoon on a high note and when we got back, we ready ourselves. Ready for the unknown future together as husband and wife, ready ourselves for the baby in her stomach, and ready ourselves to love each other for the rest of our life.
