“You did well” Revadias smiled “And you earned your reward”
He walked to Ardeni and offered her hand “Stand up, please. You have an important decision to make. You know, long long time ago, gods decided they will not meddle to the affairs of people. Only when summoned, only when called. Their priest can ask favours from them. Those who know correct rites can appeal to them. But otherwise they do not listen, they do not care. And I think it is not fair. I rejected their oath they tried to force on me. This is why they call me Oathbreaker. I do not see the world in black and white as they do. I see all the shades of grey and I understand that honour is not an answer to all problems, That sometimes you have to lie and deceive to do the right thing. I do not believe in rules. I believe in intentions. And your intentions are not bad. So I have two options for you.” he paused for a moment, looking to her eyes. “I can show you how you can summon the wrath of the goddess. Do that and this house will fall. You can go home, put yourself together and return to your life as if nothing happened. You can even try and buy slaves of this house for yourself when other houses will auction them along with other possessions.” he smiled
“Or there is the second option. Swear yourself to me, as my priestess. And I will give you the power to free the slaves that came with you. I will give you the power to give the patron what he deserves. But, for that, I will ask something. I want to see the world outside of Targat. But I can do so only if my priest goes out. If you free the slaves of this house, you will have to leave Targat, you could never return home. But you will be free. They will be safe. And you will see the world you never even imagined.”
“I tried to save her, I did all I could to protect her and them.” Ardeni closed her eyes for a moment. “And I think you want me to pick the second option. If you will uphold your promise, if we get out of here safely, then I will swear myself to you.”
“There are three relics my priest wear.” his voice echoed through the sanctuary, “Each of them tied to a different kind of magic. Sceptre, mask and cloak. Mask is for personal spells, a cloak is for illusions and sceptre for spells that are directed to others. As I will craft these for you, I will imbue each with one spell. And with those, you can free the others. Now, lie on the altar and close your eyes. Then I can begin”
