“Are you there?” Ardeni tapped the small statue of four armed man. She sighed, as there was no response’ then she looked out of the window. The city was returning to normal, as slavers tried to capture as many as they could alive, there were no big losses. Yes, Hildrin was still in bed, with healers tending to her, but as they were ensuring her, she will be fine in a few weeks.
“That is quite disrespectful, don’t you think?” Revadias was sitting on her bed. “tapping the head of your god like it was some toy. So, this is Tanragar. It’s even colder then I imagined.”
“I am trying to call you for almost a week” Ardeni turned back. “I brought your statue as you asked me and then nothing.”
“Well, I got distracted” Revadias shrugged and lied down on furs. “War inside of the house is always fun to watch.”
“You made them fight amongst themselves?” Ardeni raised an eyebrow.
“No my dear.” He chuckled. “You did. After all, when your illusion on patron ended and they figured out who they have been torturing last day for escape and murder, when priest declared it is divine punishment for his behaviour, when they found out someone who they believed is patron took their ship, half of the treasury and all slaves from the last raid, what would you expect?”
“I would expect them to come after us.”
“They tried. But you do not exist.” he winked at her. “After all, what fun it would be if they could just step through the void right after you? And you were amusing. It would be a shame to lose you so soon. So, shall we continue?”
“What do you mean?” Ardeni looked at him. “Do I have a choice? I promised to be your priestess.”
“You always have a choice.” Revaidas disappeared from the bed, just to step out from the shadows near the window. “Unlike my mothers, I do not insist on keeping everyone that needed help. After all, what I want from you needs to be voluntary.”
“What are the options then?” she touched the choker on her neck.
“You can return my relics to me. Then go home. House that troubled you exist no more. Those few survivors have other problems than to seek vengeance.” he folded his hands behind his back and looked out of the window.
“Or you can keep them, take another task from me and I can promise you we will have a lot of fun together.” he turned back and smiled “As I promised. You will see the world.”
“What will be another task?” she returned the smile
“I looked at the invitation from Hildrin.” sealed scroll appeared in his hands “And I created another one, just like it. But, for a different name. So you will go to Slagweld. After all, if I understand correctly, that university offers a lot of opportunities. For both of us.” He offered scroll to her.
“I will need to think about it.” She took the scroll and looked at it.
“Do you?” he grinned. “Or you just want to keep me waiting?”
“You are right.” She sighed and nodded. “So go there? Build your shrine?”
He nodded “And then, we will see.”
