"I'm a wizard!"
Collin shook his head at me with a frown, "No, you're not."
I tilted my head, "What do you mean?"
"Your mother said that you were a sorcerer or an enchanter not a wizard. She told me there was a difference between them. A wizard is usually a male who uses a wand or some type of magical thing that they have to keep with them at all times. A sorcerer or enchanter, on other hand, doesn't need them. They instead use a spells from books and talk in another language." Collin explained expertly only proving to me that his conversation with my mom went on for a long time.
"An enchanter, however, unlike a sorcerer, gets their very first magical experience at the young age of four. For you that must have been when you got sick because that entire week your mother wouldn't let me or Lucas come to talk to you. She must have that you would accidentally put spell on us."
"So I'm a enchanter?" I said skeptically.
"Technically, an enchantress, " Lucas cut in and I rolled my eyes.
"Okay, I'm an enchantress, " I concluded waving my hand carelessly and Collin along with Lucas nodded.
I ran my fingers through my hair, "Ugh, why now of all times!"
"Actually, I think should talk about that," Lucas said looking at the duck that was still sitting in the middle of room.
I turned to him, "What now?"
"Isn't it odd how all this started when Mr. Davis left and Mr. Channing came along? " He questioned I thought about it.
The first magical incident was with when the whole class couldn't stop looking at Leo, then something happened to Alex while Leo was there. What had Mr. Channing done to this duck?
"You think Mr. Channing might a wizard?" Collin inquired, "Leo might be the source of his magic?"
'It's completely possible but if so why was Leo in the middle of the hall, " I pointed, "and also how come I can talk to it?"
"This getting worse with every minute, " Collin groaned throwing his head back.
I scoffed, " Hey! At least you aren't a duck whisperer!" (I got this from Animu Cracker who said this in the comment section!)
The next minute or so was spent trying to think of reasons of why Mr. Channing would leave his only source of magic behind. We talked about my conversation with I left to find Collin.
"What if it fell out of his pocket?" Lucas suggested holding the duck.
I shook my head, " Couldn't have. Mr. Channing shoved it down to the bottom of his pants pocket so we couldn't see anymore. "
"Well, what if a student asked to see it then when the student gave it back he forgot to put it but all the way?" He said doubting himself.
"That sounds possible, " I agreed, "But why would he let a student hold something that was full of magic?"
Collin snapped his finger making us turn to him, "He could have come over here to find you, Taylor!"
I pointed to myself curiously, "Me?"
He nodded, "Hear me out, okay? He probably have heard me say that I pulled a prank on Alex so went to find you to see if you to care of the situation properly. He's new here so he wouldn't know the halls which explains why you didn't see him. He was holding the duck in his hand to see if it could find you but he got distracted and set the duck down. Assuming that he had placed the duck in his pocket he gave up on his search for you. "
"Why wouldn't he check to make sure? It is his power source after all, " Lucas said crossing his arms pensively putting the duck down.
"What if he has more than one magic source so the duck didn't mean anything to him?" Collin asked and I smiled. He was using the Socratic method.
"That explains it then, " I grinned taking the duck and shoved it into my book bag, "Now, lets go give it back to him. "
The two nodded as we stood and went to go find Mr. Channing. But before we could even step out of the room Leo squeaked and I found myself feeling dizzy.
"Taylor!"
