I don't know how long I was out for, but when I woke up my body was in intense pain and the light was blinding. I went to bring my arm up to cover my face but stopped when I seen my arm wrapped in bandages from my hand up to my elbow.
"Oh thank god you're awake."
I slowly sat up. "Kurt?" I questioned.
"You should stay laying down," he said sitting down beside me. "I was really starting to worry."
"Where am I?" I asked laying back down.
"You're in the guest room of my house," he replied covering me back up and fixing the blankets.
"What time is it?"
Kurt looked down at his watch. "Almost nine."
"What!?" I yelled shooting up. "Ahh, fuck!" I doubled over in pain.
"You shouldn't move around so much," he said laying me down again.
"I have to get home," I said slightly sitting up and grabbing Kurt's arm.
"It'd probably be best if you stayed here."
"I'm okay," I replied. "I'll just go home and go to bed."
"The only place you should go to the hospital."
"Don't you think you're overreacting?" I asked. "It's not that big of a deal, it was just a little bully."
"That wasn't bullying!" he snapped. "That was a full out assault! They should be in jail!"
"Now you really are overreacting." I calmly said while sitting up and pushing away the blankets. "And where are my clothes?"
"They were soaked in blood. So I took them off and cleaned you up to the best I could."
I wasn't sure which was more concerning, how calmly he could talk about stripping me while I was unconscious or the fact I was sitting here half-naked and yet I felt completely calm. I wasn't angry, but I was a little embarrassed.
"Umm, can I have them back so I can get home?" I asked, however, I couldn't look at him.
"Fine." he sighed getting off the bed. "But I'm driving you."
"Stop worrying, I'm fine," I replied sliding off the foot of the bed. "I'll be fine. Besides if my dad sees you dropping me off he'll be pissed."
He quietly stared at me for a moment then turned and walked out of the room.
I sat back down on the edge of the bed and waited quietly for his return.
"Here this will be easier to take on and off with your arm like that," Kurt said walking back into the room.
I grabbed the shirt from him and started putting it on.
"I have some rules for you before you go." he started.
"Yeah, yeah," I mumble fiddling with the buttons.
"Let me help you with those," he said bending down in front of me. "If you start hurting or getting tired call me and I'll come and get you. However, if you do make it home text me as soon as you get there." he continued standing up after doing up the last button. "Finally I want you to come back again right after school tomorrow."
"Why?"
"Hmm, perfect fit. I thought it would be much too big for your small frame."
"Why do you want me to come back tomorrow?" I asked grabbing my keys and phone off the bed.
"That way I can keep an eye on you and take care of your injuries."
I rolled my eyes and walked past him into the dark hallway.
He put his hands on my shoulders and started guiding me through the house. Past another room, bathroom then stopped at a door in-between the kitchen and living room. Kurt opened the door revealing a stairwell.
Kurt wrapped one arm around me and grabbed my waist. With the other hand gently held my sore arm and we slowly made our way down the stairs. See how careful and caring he was being there was no way I could tell him that I lived on the top floor of an apartment complex with no elevator. If I did there would be no way he’d let me leave.
When we got to the bottom of the stairs Kurt opened the door and gestured for me to go first. I slowly walked through the door with Kurt right behind me.
"Hold on," Kurt said grabbing my arm.
I stopped and let Kurt walk past me into the darkness.
”I would hate for you to reinjure or worse injure something else new.
Before I could say anything the light clicked on. My eyes instinctively closed and started watering like crazy.
”Are you okay?” I heard Kurt ask.
”Yeah.” I replied wiping my eyes.
”Sorry, I should have warned you that the lights down here we're extremely bright.” he said wiping the tears from my face.
”Just burning a little still.” I laughed.
”Here, sit for a second.” Kurt said helping me to what felt like a bench. ”I'll be right back.”
I pulled the shirt up and gently rubbed my eyes. Slowly the tears stopped and the burning faded. I slowly pulled the shirt down allowing my eyes to adjust bit by bit.
’Why am I in the cafe?’ I wondered to myself.
I looked around but didn't see Kurt anywhere. Annoyed I got up and started walking around. I found myself stopped in front of the glass doors. I froze, I wanted to leave but it felt like something was stopping me.
”Where are you going?”
”What the-!?” I jumped hitting the door.
”You okay?” Kurt laughed.
”Shut up!” I snapped. ”You scared the shit out of me.”
”Sorry little puppy.” he replied ruffling my hair.
”Uh-huh, well it's late,” I said unlocking the door. ”So I'm gonna go.”
I began pulling on the door when I felt the door pushed closed. My heart started racing as I could see Kurt's reflection in the door right behind me. His arms on either side of me holding onto the bar. He was only about six inches taller than me, but I could feel his breath down my spine as he spoke.
”Don't forget the rules I told you.” his voice was deep and almost sounded angry.
I shivered, bit my lip and nodded.
”So you'll return tomorrow right after school.”
I nodded again.
”Good boy.” he said pushing the door open.
I walked through the door, but Kurt grabbed my arm before I could reach the second door.
”Don't make me come looking for you again.” he growled.
I nodded.
Kurt smiled and as soon as he let go of my arm I ran out the second door.
I stumbled down the stairs, but I kept going. The pain was brutal, but I was in such a hurry to get home I did my best to just ignore the pain.
Once I reached my apartment complex I text Kurt and told him I was home. Then I turned my phone off and slowly began to ascend up the stairs.
When I reached my apartment I did my best to enter as quietly as possible, hoping no one was up. However, as I was closing the door I realized I was yet again wrong.
