“Cloe? Finally, we found you.” I heard another gunshot go off and looked down to see the zombies were still attacking. Now I heard a ringing noise and had two zombies on me, “I’m so sorry!” I glanced behind me to see Sarah. I noticed Tom running beside her.
“Throw me the gun.” I yelled as I continued to kick the zombie back. Sarah nodded and threw me the gun. I tensed up as I noticed I forgot to tell her to put it on the safety. Luckily the gun landed perfectly next to me and I picked it up. I pointed it at the zombies in front of me and put a bullet into both. I kicked them off my legs and fell to my back. Tom ran up to me and began to lick me in the face. I laughed for a moment and pushed him off. I looked up to see Sarah standing above me. I noticed she was looking at my legs. I sat back up, “Don’t worry. I need to admit some things to you. I’m immune because I was patient zero,.”
Sarah hesitated before finally putting her hand out, “You have a lot to explain to us.”
“I mean you have some explaining to do about leaving me behind. At least tell me that you know how to get into their base. I know they let you out easily though.” Tom licked my face and I pushed him away, “I thought for sure I was going to die.”
“I mean, any normal person would be dead. Those things tore into your legs.” Sarah said as she helped me stay on my feet. I felt a piercing pain come from them. I began to bite my lip.
“I need you to get in my backpack and stab me with one of my shots.” I bite down harder as I pushed away from Sarah and fell back to the ground. I removed my bag and tossed it at her, “Please, hurry.” I started to feel my hands start to shake. Sarah quickly got down and dug through my bag. She pulled out the secret pocket and pulled out one of the shots. She quickly grabbed my arm and carefully stabbed me with the shot. I took a deep breath as I tried to calm myself. I leaned against the brick wall as Tom leaned next to me. I smiled, “That feels way better.”
“What is this stuff anyway?” Sarah said as she glanced down at the shot she had just used.
“Not a cure,” I mumbled, “or not for anyone but myself. I don’t know why either. I attempted to use it on my brother after he had gotten bit from my Dad. I remember sitting in the closet with him and watching him start to go through the spasm phase. I used two of my shots on him and at first, he seemed to have stopped spasming, but then came a new reaction I had only seen on him. He let out a piercing scream as blood began to trickle out from his eyes and his eyes became pitch black. I watched as his blood turned from a blood red to a black thick muck. He ended up biting my arm as I defended myself from him. His strength was overwhelming. I thought I was going to die, but them a gun shot went off from outside which seemed to interest him more. I used this as my chance to shove him off and smash his head with a bowling ball.” I pulled up my sleeve to show a bite scar on my arm. “His bite was the only one that didn’t want to heal as fast as my other wounds.” Sarah looked down at the scar and covered it back up with my sleeve.
“Alex and some others we found are waiting for us down in town. We need to hurry back to them before we get surrounded.” She helped me back to my feet and I grabbed my bag. We slowly walked out of the alley. I noticed a few trucks and noticed Alex pulling her knife out of a zombie. She turned and saw us.
