In the days following her first meeting with Iris Leroy, Violette Vertefeuille saw her life take an unexpected turn.
Every day, this rich heiress pursued her relentlessly.
Violette was forced to dodge it all the time. She had to keep running and changing her routes.
As we speak, she was desperately looking for a way out.
She annoys me for following me like this all the time! she cursed.
She walked quickly through the winding corridors of the university.
Violette turned and returned to these corridors before abruptly entering an unoccupied classroom.
His biggest fear at the time was not just that weirdo, but to accidentally enter a full room while trying to escape her.
That terrified her much more than confronting the young woman who was chasing her to make her see reason.
As soon as she entered the empty room, she breathed a sigh of relief as she slumped to the ground.
The maiden was exhausted from running around just to lose her.
She began to play with the Prism Shard that she wore on a thin chain around her neck.
She had ultimately kept this ring that Iris had given her, not having dared to throw it away after leaving with it unintentionally.
Violette rested a few minutes before going out again and heading to her classroom.
***
Violette entered the classroom, looking carefully to see if it was safe, before going to sit in her seat next to her friend, Charlotte.
“You look terrible... commented this one, seeing her coming.
— Don't tell me about it... she sighed as she sat down.
— What's going on?
— Do you remember the girl who pulled me out of class the other day?
— Of course! You want to talk about this one? asked Charlotte, pointing to the door of the amphitheater that had opened to let the rich heiress in.
— What?! exclaimed Violette. Quick, hide me! Hide me!
— Huh? What the hell are you talking about?”
Barely did she had time to hide behind her friend that Iris was already reaching her height.
“Hello, she said, sitting next to her.
— I... What are you doing here, Violette stammered as she came out from underneath her hiding place.
— Since you didn't want to listen to me, or even let me approach you, I decided to register for the same course as you, just to have an opportunity to explain the importance of your sacred mission, replied Iris, without blinking.
— But I...
— Say, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend? asked Charlotte.
— Yes... If you want... sighs Violette. Iris, Charlotte. Charlotte, Iris...
— Pleased to meet you! exclaimed his sparkling friend.
— Not really interested... Iris replied, coldly.
— What do you mean? Not really interested?
— You must know that you cannot refuse... she began as she turned her attention back to her Knight.
— Shut up, the class is about to start” cut Violette, happy to have found this way out.
***
Violette walked in a hurry on the way home with Iris on her heels for her greatest displeasure.
“Please, you have to listen to me! Yggdrasil will be here soon! exclaimed the last one, desperate.
— I... I already told you no... stuttering Violet, adjusting her glasses uncomfortably.
— Yet, you kept the Shard... Iris began.
— It wasn't really...
— Too late...”
Violette accelerated again and took a few minutes to realize what was happening around them.
The pavement and the rest of the street in which they were standing had disappeared.
In their places, greenish dandelions danced on a bed of yellow doves bathed in an orange glow.
“Aaaah?! cried Violette.
— Tss! They're already here... declared iris.
— But where did the street go? How can you stay so calm?! exclaimed Violette, completely lost and panicked.
— You're the kind of person who gets very talkative when you're lost, interesting... Iris said. I told you, Yggdrasil has arrived. They sent one of their Magician to undo you and get the Prism.
— But... But... But the street? The houses? The people?
— It is thanks to the piece of the Prism that they possess, they have opened a pocket in reality... she began to answer her Knight.
— But...
— Think of it as an exquisite visual corpse! They love this kind of little game, get ready, we risk seeing all kinds of things!
— Knight! sounded a deep voice. Get ready!
— Who?” stammered Violette.
To answer her question, a silhouette emerged from the orange waves that bordered the pocket of reality.
He was a tall and slender man dressed in a long black coat doubled with scarlet fabrics.
A kaleidoscopic mask, infinitely reflecting the small sphere of the universe in which they were standing, was covering his eyes and nose.
A big carnivorous smile crossing his face from side to side.
He stepped forward from the colored smoke rising at each of his steps.
“What the... babbled Violette.
— Hurry! Use the Prism Shard! exclaimed Iris.
— What... How?
— Stretch out the ring in front of you and say: Prism Power, I beg you to come to my aid to defend your chosen one!
— I...
— Hurry up!
— All... All right... Violette replied before getting back to composure and reaching out with her right hand and declaiming:
— Prism Power! I beg you to come to my aid to defend your chosen one!
Her ring began to shine a multicolored light before embracing her in her entirety and slowly fading away.
To her astonishment, Violette saw herself holding the long, tapered blade of a brilliant fencing foil with a rainbow shimmering sheen. She had also been given a new outfit consisting of black pants, a white shirt and a lace jabot held by a sparkling gemstone, as well as a long black and red cape. Her irises and hair also had iridescent reflections.
“But I... she stammered, confused.
— The Prism has entrusted you with its power, now let it guide your hand! added Iris, seeing with horror, the Magician of Yggdrasil approaching closer and closer.
— En garde, Knight!” exclaimed the Magician.
The chaotic world around them changed again to be replaced by pictures from nightmares.
The orange hues turned dark red as the surrounding water turned into a bloody pond.
The dandelions faded as their petals fell, revealing the putrefied bodies of the doves on which they were lying.
Deliriously shaped shadows emerged from the bloody waves.
Violette fell apart under the nameless horror that faced her before feeling a warm ball deep inside her.
The shadow beasts around her were inexorably approaching as she regained a slight composure and decided to let the Prism do its work as Iris had advised her.
Her face took on a more determined expression as she rushed into the shadows, determined to strike them down.
She scrambled for several minutes against them, her arms became heavier and heavier and a slow coldness began to invade her body, numbing her muscles.
The small warmth generated by the Prism was only slightly able to counter it.
It progressed slowly in her limbs, making all her movements even more laborious.
The shadows did not seem to be affected by his blows, his foil passed through their bodies without them feeling anything.
Each of her shanks ripped off a little of the shadow without slowing their progress.
Violette dodged a blow by jumping backwards but failed to dodge the next one and was thrown against the bloody wall of the sphere into which she sank.
The viscous fluid enveloped her as she struggled frenetically to get out.
She emerged a few seconds later only to observe the worst happening.
The nightmarish shadows had disappeared, only remained in the middle of the pocket of reality, surrounded by yellow petals, Iris and the Magician of Yggdrasil. The latter carrying her on his shoulder like a vulgar bag.
Violette did not have time to rush towards him as the universe had already returned to its normality, leaving her alone on the pavement, in tears.
