Earlier that day...
Rory started school on a Friday and she walked through the doors like she owned the place. All of a sudden all eyes go to Rory as she was stranded in the front of the class. Her stance was rude with an impeccable frown and paint all over her hands, as she was quite the artist. She looked down at her shoes as she walked to a seat. Gunner noticed the new girl but tried to play it off like he didn't acknowledge her and acted like he didn't even see her. He would look at her when she was turned half way around, but wouldn't say anything to her. The way he saw it was that she looked pretty cool to get to know, but he didn't want to make a first bad impression. Maybe it was better that populars and unpopulars didn't make friends anyway. Rory eventually made an excuse to get out of class and got up.
When she walked out of class, Gunner couldn't believe she just walked out on the lesson, so he asked Mrs.Johnson if he could go to the restroom.
The older lady sighed. "Whatever, just hurry back."
At that, he quickly grabbed his bag and rushed out the door, but he didn't see Rory at first. She was gone so he thought she ran off. It was a few seconds later when he heard spray paint cans and he ran rapidly went to see where it was coming from. He dropped his backpack when he saw that the whole wall was green, pink , red and blue and not black anymore. Gunner was honestly shocked and frightened to see what was going to happen.
Rory looked over and there (standing) was a boy with black hair in his face and a grey beanie. She looked to the wall she had spray painted, then turned back to look at him. She figured he was going to snitch on her so she started to get off the ladder (That was conveniently left by the person who was working on the lights) when her foot slipped. Gunner must have saw it before it happened, because he rushed to the bottom of the ladder. One, two three, and she fell, her mind racing at what was happening. It was a split second later when Rory opened her eyes and the boy with the hazel eyes caught her, but barely. Rory started to say thank you and got really red, but she instead jumped out of his arms.
"Why'd you catch me?" She stammered kind of angrily. "You should've just let me fall"
"Look, I don't like you, but I wasn't going to be the one responsible for a hospital trip, new girl." Gunner responded, just a little irritated.
Rory rolled her eyes. "What's that supposed to mean? Just cause I'm new doesn't mean anything. Actually, by the looks of it, you kinda look like a troublesome guy. And by that, I mean YOU'RE a trouble maker and want to find one thing YOU can get in-trouble for."
Gunner paused, opened his mouth to say something, then turned around.
As he started to walk away, the bell rang and everyone came rushing through the hallway. It was then when everyone saw Rory's masterpiece on the wall and were awestruck, but as for the teachers, not so much.
They asked "Who did this and why?"
Well, Rory noticed all the people and ran as fast as she could, then noticed that Gunner wasn't that far behind.
Gunner grabbed her hand.
"Look, we have a problem. You and I are partners, so we have to study the circus. I know you might not want to, but I won't get a bad grade because of you."
"Fine, as long as it's fast and I don't have to stay long," Rory glared at him, jerking her hand away.
"Fine," Gunner started. "Let's just go, we might as well get this done now instead of later."
School ended and the two were left walking down the road to the new circus, the one that just showed up out of nowhere. It was like it appeared out of thin air and Gunner was actually eager to go see it, even if it meant he had to hang out with some person he didn't really like.
So, about an hour later and they arrived at the circus and were left amazed by the show. Everything was going fine until the show ended and the ringleader coaxed them into meeting him in his office.
"Welcome, Welcome. My name is Mr. Valentino and this is my amazing circus. The people you saw are my family!" He began with a wide smile once they were in the cramped and small room. "Circus family, to be exact. All of them are ages between 15 to 19 in my circus. But, let's not worry about that. I have a very important question for you two..."
