"This party must be perfect Claude! There is no room for error!' Alois commanded and then giggled childishly. "Drinking, dancing, costumes! I want the ballroom to be properly decorated and fit for a king to attend!" the young blonde boy grinned and spun around, mock dancing around his butler. His blue eyes were alight with childlike excitement, plans of the ball running through his head at a rapid rate. Alois always loved Halloween, to be someone he was not was something he always enjoyed. He used to love trick or treating, though it was more akin to ding dong ditch than trick or treat. With an excited squeal, Alois spun around Claude, dancing oddly, and clapped his hands before shouting "Ole!".
"Yes, your highness" Claude simply responded in a monotonous voice, his facial features not giving anything away.
Alois grinned and walked out of the ballroom. He continued his spinning and dancing down the hall of the manor, to his bedroom. He had multiple costumes he already had put together but hadn't decided which to wear yet. "Ciel is invited and should be coming so I must look good." He spoke to himself as he approached his bedroom. He loved and hated Ciel at the same time, it was a strange feeling to Alois, but he was thrilled at the idea of Ciel attending his Halloween ball. He laid out his costumes on his bed and deliberated over which one he would prefer to wear. He really liked the purple outfit that was meant to look similar to a vampire, but he also liked the Altar boy costume and the sailor suit. "Decisions, decisions..." he stood before his bed, a hand on his hip as he thought. He gently stroked his chin and quickly became frustrated. "Maybe I should just model them for Claude. He desires me, maybe I can get his attention with one of these." Alois mused to himself. He rang a small silver bell for Hannah to come immediately. Promptly she appeared and lowered her gaze to the floor, refusing to look at Alois; her bandaged face was a flawless emotionless mask. "Hannah, be useful and go get Claude." The blond boy commanded.
"Yes, your highness" the white-haired maid bowed quickly and walked out to fetch Claude.
Alois put on the purple outfit first and looked in the mirror, he twirled around and turned to look at himself at all angles. "I think I like this one best..." he mumbled to himself as he stared at his rear end in the mirror. Claude entered and announced his presence.
"You called my lord?" the tall butler looked at Alois with a blank expression.
"What do you think Claude? Do you like this costume?" Alois' eyes brightened, full of happiness and excitement upon seeing his butler.
"I only have eyes for you, I only wish do devour you, your highness." The butler responded, his golden eyes glowing red now, but his face was still expressionless.
"You do like this one!" Alois exclaimed excitedly. He grinned and immediately looked at Claude with an irritated expression. "Did you finish the preparations?"
"Yes, your highness" he bowed slightly in response.
"Excellent! I can't wait for the guests to start showing up." He bounced up and down excitedly. "Leave me to finish my preparations. Go finish making the deserts or something." He waved his hand dismissively as he adjusted his accessories. Less than an hour passed as his guests started pouring in.
Meanwhile, at the Phantomhive manor, Sebastian was trying to help Ciel with his costume. Ciel was sure he needed to go to the Trancy manor, because of the possible involvement of his imprisonment. Truth be told he hated Halloween. Having to dress up was a daily occurrence for him as it was, Halloween just made it that much more annoying. He was just going to go in one of his usual outfits but Lizzie and Sebastian scolded him. With a loud irritated sigh, he finished having Sebastian put on his outfit, looking in the mirror with distaste. Of all the costumes he could have ended up wearing...a pirate.
Back at the Trancy manor Alois was excitedly greeting the guests as they slowly flooded in. Seeing the many different costumes gave him an idea. "Claude!" he ordered. Within moments Claude was behind him. "Yes my lord?" his golden eyes glimmered mischievously.
"I have a fantastic idea! I need you to prepare a haunted house or a scary attraction of some kind. I want to scare the daylights out of Ciel, show that brat I am the superior one." Alois nearly jumped for joy.
"Yes, your highness." The spider butler bowed and took his leave. He began setting up one of the sitting rooms as a haunted house. He clapped his hands, summoning the triplets and Hannah. Instructing them to change their outfits and their makeup for the haunted house attraction, he mentally cursed at Alois for making his efforts go to waste after all his setting up the manor just so. He sighed and adjusted his glasses.
Ciel arrived at the Trancy manor. He looked at the manor with the faint golden light glowing from the windows, the manor still seeming ominous to him even with the soft golden luminescence. He glared out of his carriage window and grumbled to himself. He looked at Sebastian who looked entirely amused, dressed in his tutor costume, rather than his butler uniform. "Let's go, Sebastian. I don't want to waste my time on this." He commanded, his voice filled with authority.
"Yes, my lord," Sebastian answered with a smile. They exited the carriage and walked up to the large double doors of the manor. Sebastian greeted the Trancy brat with a wicked smile, and Ciel slapped Alois' hand away when he was offered it. "Don't touch me" he snapped. Alois' smile fell, but it morphed into a smirk instead.
"Always high and mighty Ciel. Let's see if we can fix that by the end of today~" he nearly giggled in excitement. He lead Ciel into the ballroom for refreshments. "I have something very special set up for you today Ciel!" he clapped his hands together, happily. Ciel rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Sebastian walked off doing god knows what.
"Please Ciel? I put together something really fantastic just for your arrival" Alois pleaded. Ciel huffed, still frowning. "Fine," he said full of a flat bored bluntness the young earl was known for. Alois grabbed Ciel's hand and ran towards the sitting room transformed into a haunted house. Alois giggled excitedly as he saw the entrance of the sitting room covered in spooky spider webs, old cracked baby dolls hanging from their necks, what looked like limbs sticking out of the floor and walls. 'Perfect! Well done Claude!' Alois thought as his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "After you Ciel" he shoved Ciel into the haunted house with a laugh.
"What in the bloody hell..." Ciel looked around with a bored expression. He couldn't tell if he was more irritated by the random haunted house or the fact Alois shoved him. He cursed under his breath and walked forward. He soon lost his bored indifference and was genuinely intrigued by the decorations. Alois walked silently behind him, nearly vibrating from his excitement. Claude appeared behind him and whispered into Alois' ear. "The preparations are complete. Hannah, the triplets and I will be ready to scare him throughout this attraction." He smiled and disappeared as soon as he had appeared. Ciel continued walking when he heard movement. His eyes gravitated to something white moving around. His curiosity peaked as he slowly approached it. He was about to grab the white strip of cloth before his wrist was grabbed. He yelled in surprise and Alois began to laugh, covering his mouth to stifle the giggles.
Ciel yanked his arm away, the pale hand disappearing slowly after. "The hell was that?! Alois what kind of tricks are you planning?!" he yelled at the blond behind him, becoming furious. Alois smiled and shrugged. "I'm not planning anything" Ciel made a small "tch" sound before continuing. As he walked through the spider webs, through a smaller area where the walls were something akin to a burnt down house. The walls were burnt and black, the floorboards below him creaked as he stepped. A quiet moaning began to approach them. Ciel took a tentative step back, bumping into Alois.
"What's wrong Ciel? Getting scared?" Alois grinned. He was very pleased with this section of the haunted house. A burnt house? What better for the Phantomhive Earl than this?
"N-no! I'm not afraid!" he scowled and walked forward again. The moaning began to come louder, louder until it sounded as though it was immediately in front of them. Ciel bit his lip in fear, hoping Alois wouldn't notice his terror. Images of the burning manor, the fear that flowed through his veins, and the family he couldn't find as the manor was alight with orange, red and yellow lights of fire; flashed through his mind. A specter glided in front of Ciel, making him fall backward and scream in fear. Though he didn't see Hannah dressed in white, he saw the dark figures of the men who kidnapped him. His screams became blood-curdling.
At first, Alois laughed but as he watched the proud Earl cowering, he knelt down and gently grabbed Ciel's shoulder. "Ciel?"
"No! Don't let them take me!" he panicked and thrust himself into Alois' arms. Alois' eyes widened in surprise, unsure what to do or how to respond. Before he could think about his actions, he wrapped his arms around Ciel in a tight embrace. "Ciel, it's all okay, it's not real," Alois whispered in Ciel's ear. "That was just Hannah." As if on command she appeared again, hands folded in front of herself, nodding her head in submission to the two boys. Ciel's panicked eye looked into Alois' eyes, and then over at Hannah, and back again. He curled into a small ball, resting his head against Alois' shoulder. "I've had enough, please, no more." He barely spoke, his breathing labored and gasping. Alois was enjoying the feeling of Ciel in his arms but Ciel began yelling for Sebastian.
"S-Sebastian! I wish to leave!" Ciel called out. At this Alois was displeased. He let Ciel go and huffed. "S-Sebastian!" Ciel croaked, a fit of coughing hit him.
"What's wrong with you?" Alois looked at Ciel with an irritated glare. "You give up at something like this? How pathetic. I overestimated you."
"Say what you like Trancy, I've had enough. I'm leaving" As Ciel answered, Sebastian, appeared behind him, picking him up bridal style and carrying him out of the haunted house. Alois stomped his foot in frustration and crossed his arms. He wasn't sure if he could call this a win or not. In his frustration, he spun on his heel and slapped Hannah as hard as he could across the cheek.
"This is YOUR fault. You scared him too much!" Alois stomped back out of the haunted house. "Hannah, clean up this mess. At the end of the night. Let the other guests enjoy it for now. No one help Hannah clean it up." He ordered as he left and walked back into the ballroom. He glanced around, seeing Ciel and Sebastian were gone. He faked a smile for the guests and excused himself to his room. He slammed his bedroom door and sat on his bed, fuming silently. Before long he felt exhausted and confused. He wanted Ciel to curl up in his arms again. The affection made him smile. He wasn't used to it, and he never wanted it to end. "Maybe..." he flopped backward onto his bed, curling onto his side. "...maybe again someday..." he smiled softly and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of being with Ciel.
