Two young boys laughed joyously as they ran to their abandoned shack they called home. The giggles of the youngest brother echoed off the walls of the ruined structure. The boys stopped once they were inside the house, kneeling over trying to catch their breath between giggles. Luka smiled up at Jim with admiration and unsullied admiration. "That was fun! Let's do it again!" the young brunette giggled. Jim smiled "That'll teach them to pick on us!" he laughed, his blond hair shined lightly in the sunlight that spilled in from a hole in the ceiling. Luka giggled again and hugged his older brother. "I love you brother."
Jim hugged Luka back, gently stroking his head with a smile. "I won't let them pick on us anymore. They should all die!" he laughed. "If I had my way, they would all die in a fire. They don't deserve to be alive. I wish they would all disappear." Luka looked up at Jim, listening intently. In his young mind, he wanted nothing more than to make his brothers' wishes come true. He loved Jim more than anything or anyone in the world. His brown eyes looked up in wonder at Jim. "You're like a king brother. I want to serve you forever! I wish your wishes would come true." Luka smiled, his incomplete set of teeth apparent by the two spaces where teeth used to be.
"If I were a king, you would be a prince!" Jim jumped up on a crate and put his hands on his hips. "We would rule together, and make everyone cry for being mean to us!"
Luka laughed and innocently stated a fact he had on his mind for a long time. "I'd rather be your knight, and serve you. I'd be your best knight!" he took a knee, bowing as a knight would to their king. "I'd make all your wishes come true. I'd say 'Yes, your highness!' to all your commands" he giggled.
Jim looked at Luka with a slightly shocked expression. "Say that again?" he stared, his smile faded. Luka looked up at Jim with a determination that shouldn't be capable of a 5-year-old. "Yes, your highness." He answered. "Again..."
"Yes, your highness!" Luka smiled.
Jim smiled fondly at his younger brother. "We should get some sleep so we can sneak into the store and steal some bread to eat. We will go at dusk." Luka giggled and hopped up to hug his brother as Jim got off the crate. "Yes, your highness." He said softly.
This brothers love was so vast, in his sleep, he couldn't help but wish and pray. He truly wanted nothing more than his brothers' happiness. He woke up before he needed to, to a woman's voice. She coaxed him to follow him. Sleepily he followed the white blonde lady. "Mama?" he asked softly. He rubbed his eyes and looked up sleepily at the lady when they stopped in the middle of a meadow.
"No, I am not your mother." She answered flatly. "You summoned me. Tell me what you wish."
Luka rubbed his eyes again and smiled. "I want my brother to be happy. I want his wish to come true." He answered simply, almost as if his wish was obvious. "I love my brother lots and lots, I want him to be happy." Luka yawned softly.
The tall caramel-skinned woman dropped down on one knee and responded softly. "That is a very kind wish. Would you die for your brother's wish to come true?" she asked, her expression warm as she looked at the child. Why was she summoned by such an innocent creature? Had he meant to summon her? She wasn't sure.
"Of course! I would do anything for my brothers wishes to come true!" he giggled softly before suddenly hugging the woman. The sudden hug took her by surprise and she sharply gasped, holding her breath. Slowly she wrapped her arms around Lukas small frame. "What is your name child? Why do you hug me so?" her voice was soft as velvet, yet full of curiosity with a hint of venom.
"My name is Luka." The small brunette looked up at her. "You're really pretty miss."
"Thank-you. Do you really want your brothers wish to come true?" she asked tentatively. She was filled with a foreign sense of uncertainty. Normally she would just accept a contract, fulfill the wish and devour the soul...but this time was different. Such purity, such innocence, truly she would be worse than a demon to devour such a precious soul.
"Can you make his wishes come true?" Luka asked softly.
"Yes, I can." She answered as delicately as possible.
"Will you make his wish come true?" the curious boy stared at her in wonder.
"I will, but you will die." She frowned as if the idea was foreign to her.
"Please make his wishes come true." He pleaded and hugged her as tight as his small body would allow.
"Yes, young master." She answered, the contract made. A Faustian contract seal appeared on her right breast to prove the agreement. She glanced down and saw his contract seal begin to show on his chest as well. "Go back to bed Luka. I will make his wish come true." She smiled softly, as a mother would her child.
Luka skipped back to the shack and cuddled against Jim who was still soundlessly sleeping. 'I'll make his wishes come true! I really really will!' He was giddy with excitement. Within minutes he had fallen asleep.
Jim was the first to wake, he yawned and rubbed his eyes. "Luka, time to get up. We have to go get some bread." He gently shook Luka's shoulder.
"Yes, your highness~" he smiled sleepily as he slowly sat up. The two boys straightened their clothes and left their bereft shack of a house. Once upon a time, their parents used to live there with them. The boys didn't know how their parents died, but they knew that they, in fact, did die. As Luka fixed his suspenders, he looked at Jim and smiled. "Brother. I love you." His smile had a hint of excitement and sadness in it. "I will always love you, no matter what." He chimed happily.
"What's this all the sudden Luka?" Jim looked honestly confused for the random statement as they began walking towards town. "No reason, just wanted to make sure you knew I love you!" though Luka had a feeling that this was goodbye, that was the real reason he was saying it.
Jim saw a bright orange light in the distance and ran up the grassy hill, the evening dew making his torn shoes wet with every step. "Luka! Come look!" his blue eyes widened in shock at the bright flames that licked the air, dancing to a silent tune. "It's beautiful..." he trailed off as he watched the enchanting flames engulf everything in its wake. The whole town was aflame. Before Luka could catch up, Jim ran down the hill, entering the town. He found the baker collapsed on the ground in front of him; in the middle of the road no less. A pool of crimson grew beneath him.
The baker gargled and choked on his own blood. "Jim, help....get....help..." he choked and coughed, gasping for air. Jim looked at him with wide eyes, mania filled his being. He began to cackle, a wicked, twisted sound for a cackle.
"Hahhahaha! How pathetic! Asking a child for help!" Jim grinned maniacally and kicked the Baker in the mouth, teeth broke and spilled out of his bloody mouth. "After all these years of you adults looking down on us...Now you have to look up at me. The look of despair on your face is delicious. Yes, look at me as you die!" he laughed and continuously kicked the baker in the face.
Luka caught up and panted softly. He burst into a fit of giggles upon seeing the wish being granted. He saw the beautiful lady from the corner of his eye. She gestured for him to come to her with a crook of her finger as she disappeared into the darkness behind a building. Luka looked at Jim, smiled sadly, and followed the lady. She held his hand as they walked into a small clearing at the center of the town. It looked like a small unkempt garden. "Thank you for making brothers wish come true" he softly spoke, barely a whisper.
"You shouldn't thank me." The demoness responded.
They stopped in the middle of the garden and the white-blonde woman kneeled to the small boy. "It's time Luka." She smiled sadly, not wanting to devour this child.
"I know." He smiled and hugged her again, nuzzling gently against the bare flesh of her neck. "Thank-you miss. Big brother is so happy now. I always want him to be happy." He said softly as he felt himself fading.
"Yes, young master." She replied sadly. She gently kissed his forehead, his body going limp moments later. She laid his small frame down gently and sighed before leaving. From a distance she watched Jim panic, searching for his brother. The sad scream like cries that wailed out of the blond boy tugged at her heart, which in turn, confused her greatly. Demons are not meant to have emotions. They do not possess a heart. The sight disgusted her. She took off and tried to forget the blond boy.
However, throughout time, she couldn't find herself able to forget the blond boy. She found herself hiding in the darkest shadows, watching him. Over time the emotions Luka held for Jim, began to grow and expand throughout her being. She desperately had to fight against herself to protect Jim from the ugly Earl Trancy. He repulsed her, to the point she wanted to destroy not only his body but also his soul. Seeing the bruises, the blood, the pain...She was about to show herself, but Claude beat her to it. She hissed angrily, the spider demon was a sickening creature. He was cowardly, monotonous and downright disgusting. To her, he was no better than the Earl Trancy.
The demoness sighed in relief when Claude actually did something useful; he killed the Earl Trancy. Jim began to go by Alois Trancy, taking the place of the Earls missing son. At this point, she could no longer hide from the blond boy. She appeared and offered her services as a maid. She had never before been a maid and was absolutely terrible at it however, she did everything she could to be there for the new Trancy earl. She didn't complain, disobey or question the actions of Jim; even when she lost her eye to him. Luka, who lived inside of her, made sure she could not harm Jim, though she never would want to.
Hannah cried silent tears upon finding Alois' limp body. She knew Claude would betray Jim, she knew it in her heart. A part of her was crying not only for Alois in sadness but also crying in happiness that Claude did not devour his soul. She held his body, cradled it in her arms as she slowly devoured his soul. She felt almost at peace having the brothers reunited within her. One thing was still needed. To avenge Jim.
