-Vitkus Apartment-
The sun went through the window of Azuloas and Aldona’s apartment, walking the two toddlers up and while Aldona and Azuloas might find it annoying at this age. They knew that they would be graceful for the habit when they were older.
Aldona yawned poking her brother in the side, before pushing herself up and went to the kitchen to start breakfast. Katė had left the two food as she had done every week since the two had moved in a year ago.
Azuloas yawned as he slowly followed her, sitting down at his spot at the small table. He was thinking about his meeting with Rajmund and wondering if Dona had met something similar happen to her.
“Azu, breakfast,” Aldona shouted from the kitchen, she wasn’t going to carry his food for him and could barely carry her own. It might have been cereal, even the Paslėpta liepsna didn’t think they were old enough to cook anything on their own.
“Done, did you have a strange dream?” Azuloas asked when he went to get his own bowl, since Aldona had been the one to prepare it. He would be the one to put the dishes into the sink, so that Katė or Šuo could help them wash them.
“I dreamed of the Sashan forest during the winter,” Aldona told him, smiling as she put her bowl down and clasped her fingers together. “In the middle of the winter.”
“Sashan’s sewers,” Azuloas told her.
“You feel safest in the sewers,” Aldona said blinking stunned by her brother’s words, she would have to hug him more.
“No one follows us in them,” Azuloas told her.
“That cause they sink.”
“I met Nojus, he didn’t think it did.”
“It was clean wasn’t it?”
“It was.”
“Jadvyga, I met Jadvyga. She was nice.”
Azuloas grinned at her. “There was a locked door behind iron bars.”
“Locked box.”
“Is Jadvyga going to train you?” Azuloas asked her spoon sitting in his bowl as he looked at her with a growing smile. “Nojus said he’d help me train.”
“Jadvyga said she’d the same,” Aldona told him.
“Teach each other?” Azuloas asked her.
“Always, Azu, always.”
“It’s the tenth of Spalis, isn’t it?”
“The calendar says it is.”
Azuloas sighed, he hated this date. He and Aldona might have turned four, but he remembered last year. They had to hide on their third and second birthdays as well, Azuloas didn’t know what they did for their first birthday.
It was that today was the day that the Dragon of Wrath and the Wolf of Greed had attacked their village, leaving hundreds dead, wounded or grieving. It didn’t help that they had been born just before the attack, Paslėpta liepsna had told them that their parents had been amongst the dead.
“Kranklys is going to pick us up,” Aldona told him.
“Maybe we can get him to use a dagger trick or two,” Azuloas said grinning as he looked as his breakfast. “Kranklys and Šuo know some of the best dagger tricks.”
“Katė know the best sword tricks,” Aldona added.
“And shadow play,” Azuloas added.
“Kranklys said his little brother does the same thing, but I guess anything to keep us from running away from the Apsauga headquarters,” Aldona said, usually their apartment was safe, and no one bothered them at him. But both knew that grief and pain from losing their loved ones can cause some people to do extreme things.
“No one goes into the Apsauga headquarters without permission,” Azuloas agreed.
