His former wife owns the local diner and is the Mother of Jerry’s older two children, Carrie age sixteen, with a fair complexion and glowing green eyes, Carrie took after Lucy. Kevin, age twenty-one, took after Jerry with thick reddish-brown curly hair, very handsome, the typical all-American High School football quarterback hero. They lived in one of the old Victorian homes on the tree-lined main street just a couple of blocks near their father’s office. Carrie and Kevin lived in the home with their mother Lucy.
Molly and the twins, Caitlynn and Logan made their home with Jerry just outside of town on an old farm they had lovingly made a working farm of sorts. It was designed as a venue for weddings, reunions etc., and a petting zoo for the community. There were stables, Molly boarded horses and cared for her own horses. She provided riding lessons and Molly was living her dream. You never saw her without a smile on her face, joy radiated from Molly to a point each encounter with people made them forget all their problems and leave her company walking on air with a smile on their face and in their heart. A solid steadfast Christian. Molly is considered a community treasure. She adored the twins, little Caitlynn and Logan were happy children.
Lucy’s Place, the only diner still in operation in Rockvale in operation not attached to a fast-food franchise. Lucy Adams had left to go home for a nap before the dinner rush. Then She and Kathy were off to Como, the next town over to meet with friends at the local bar and the only venue with live music. Reservations had to be made at The Burner. Lucy and Kathy have a standing date for every Friday night. The two have been best friends since before they could walk. Kathy lives two blocks from The Burner, convenient for getting home safe after a night out, Lucy always crashed at Kathy’s. Lucy’s a lush, des enjoy her night out with “The Girls”. The diner would run its usual short order skeleton crew until Sunday diners came in after church let out at Noon. Until then Lucy was free to do as she wished. Carrie always went out to her Dads on the weekend. Kevin was away at college.
The bell rang on this Friday afternoon at Rockvale High, pouring out of the doors, students are ready for the weekend. For Carrie Adams and Justin Treadwell, it is a magical time, young and head over heels in love. They had plans for this weekend. In the past few weekends, they had been going to the old Rockvale Inn and turned one of the four suites into a nice little love nest. They want their first time to be romantic and special.
Being the son of the local police chief did not deter Justin from sneaking into the old place, it felt safe, it had been vacant for years. Dumbstruck with love he did not think about it being a crime, it was an adventure with the one he loved. His Dad would be out of town for the state shooting competition for the weekend. Having lost his mother five years ago to cancer, he was on his on this weekend. Carrie went home to find Lucy getting ready to leave for her girls’ night out and asked if she may stay home for the weekend, telling Lucy she needed to study for some test next week before spring break. “Call my cell if you leave the house, and answer if I call you. I will be staying with Kathy until Sunday morning, we are going shopping in Hattiesburg on Saturday.” Lucy said. “I promise Mom, I will," Carrie said with her fingers crossed behind her back a habit she had not lost on childhood.
Carrie hated lying to her Mother, this was something she did not practice, but she could hardly tell Lucy what she has planned for the weekend. She and Justin had decided they were ready for the next step. This would be their first time; she is both scared and excited. “See you on Sunday.” Carrie said running up the stairs to her room as Lucy walked out the door.
Raskin had left City Hall and was at the property awaiting the electric and water company to finish setting up the utilities. He was behind the restaurant and lounge section of the property airing out the house built for the owner-operator of the business. The area where it looked like humans prepared food was fascinating to him. He would have to hire some human staff to show him how to use the space. It would be tricky hiding his identity, so he had studied enough German to pretend this is where he hailed from. The name Raskin come from Greek and meant “loved”. It was how he meant to be thought of by the humans, with their emotion called love. It would suit his plans for the humans to think of him as a gentle and caring man that cherishes family. Simple kindness would gain the human's trust, not give them any reason to question him otherwise.
Raskin did not see the teenagers slip into one of the suits on the far side of the Inn. In human form, his ability to be aware of everything Was not all-seeing like when he is in spirit form. A lifeforce made of energy and light with a conscious and understanding, not unlike humans, however not born I the body. A spirit in free form would be a way of trying to explain it. The main parallel to the humans would be their faith. This is the reason he chose this society; the humans want, and a vast many do believe in something greater than themselves.
