Y’know, it sucks. Have a sibling ten years younger than you. You have to stick up for them all the time. They’re whiny, always wanting your attention. Maybe that’s why I let her live with me. She keeps me sane. Well, most of the time. “Tain!” I looked up from my book. “Yeah Liz?” I called over into the kitchen. “I can’t reach the bag of chips for lunch for us!” Lizzy is thirteen. She’s sweet, and really likes to help out. “Okay, hold on.” I set my book aside and walked over, grabbing the chips she wanted. “Don’t eat ‘em all, okay brat?” She grinned and nodded, taking her plate to her room. “Don’t make a mess!” I called to her as she went to shut the door. Sighing, I looked over towards my phone. Where was D? Why hasn’t he picked up his phone?
Bzz. Bzz. I jolted at the phone call, before walking over. Derien’s caller ID appeared, and I answered. “Hey babe.” His gruff voice came through. “Where the-” I made sure Lizzy wasn’t around. “Fuck have you been D?” I hissed. “Whoa, calm down Tain. Just doing some dirty work.” A sigh from Tain. “Who was it?” He mumbled low so Lizzy didn’t hear. “Liz around? I can barely hear you. Why don’t you come over to my place?” Great, one of D’s many personalities was a pervy asshole. That would mean he’s in one of his many ‘moods’. Double Great.
“D, you know I can’t just leave Lizzy home alone.” I spoke up. “Why not? She knows how to fend for herself! She’s thirteen Tain!” I sighed. “Fine, I’ll be over soon.” I spoke up, hanging up the phone right after. “You going out?” Lizzy’s voice made me jump. “Yeah. You know where the spare bat is right?” Lizzy nodded. I grabbed my bat. “You take that thing everywhere.” I shrugged. “See you later brat. Lock the door behind me.” I waved, and left. I heard her lock the door, before walking down the stairs and out towards my car. “Tain Sullivan!” I glanced over, throwing my bat in the passenger seat. I turned, seeing one of the neighbors.
“Mrs. Turner.” I spoke up. “Where are you going? Are you leaving Lizzy alone? Again?” I rolled my eyes. These people, I swear. “I’m going to get groceries. Liz didn’t want to go with me. Can I go now, or are there more questions?” The older woman huffed. “Go.” She hissed. I rolled my eyes once more, before climbing into my car and driving off. The people in this town were too normal. When someone like me shows up, they go insane. They want to know all your secrets. Every. Last. Fucking. One.
I made it to D’s house without another problem, before pulling my bat from my car and walking up to the door. “Tain!” D’s voice rang out as he opened the door. “Hey, Darien.” I mumbled, walking inside. I set my bat off to the side, before turning back towards the taller male. I shut the door behind him before grinning and grabbing me by the collar of my shirt. “D-Darien!” I grabbed his wrist. He let go with a laugh. “Just wanted to make sure you were still with me, Sullivan.” He spoke up, a grin on his face. I shook my head. “Asshole.” I mumbled.
“What?” I let go of his wrist. “You staying the night this time Tain?” D’s came up and wrapped his arms around me. “Yeah, I guess. Just as long as you let me go get clothes for tomorrow. You know we can’t look suspicious.” I spoke up. “Just wear my clothes.” I rolled my eyes. “Your clothes are too big on me.” I spoke up. D’s green hair fell into his eyes, and I instinctively pushed it away. “Cute.” He mumbled. “You need to put your beanie on to keep that mess of Beetlejuice hair out of your eyes.” He stuck out his tongue. “Yeah yeah, purple.” I smiled a bit, before leaning up and pressing a soft kiss against his cheek.
The night went on like normal for us. He spoke up about how he was gonna sneak into church early, and I was gonna join him. This meant Liz went to church with one of her friends. I didn’t mind that, so I wasn’t too worried about Liz. “You need to eat T. I know you haven’t been.” I looked over. “I only missed one meal, D.” I spoke up. He walked over, and I crossed my arms. “Tain. You need to eat.” His voice became a little more sinister than the voice he normally used with me. “Fine.” I growled, before walking over towards his kitchen. Darien lived in a one story house towards the outskirts of town. It was quiet, and we were both thankful for that. I held out my hand, a ball hitting it. I quickly wrapped my fingers around the ball before it fell. “Good catch, Purple.” I rolled my eyes. “You being clumsy has helped that.” I spoke up, setting the ball to the side.
“You been taking your meds the therapist gave you?” Jesus D. “Nah. I don’t need them.” I spoke up, glancing over. “You want me to open a window?” I pulled out a cigarette. He plucked it from me. “Eat first. Smoke after.” I grumbled something in Latin, something I knew he would understand, and made a sandwich. I finished the food, before holding my hand out for the cigarette. He lit it and took a drag from it, before handing it to me. “You should take your meds.” He spoke up. “Why? Like I said, I don’t need them.” I spoke up, before taking a drag from my cigarette. “Because they were prescribed to you T. You can’t just stop taking them.” I rolled my eyes, before putting out the cigarette I had. I felt D pull me against him.
“Darien.” I spoke up, looking back towards him. “Shh.” He leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. It was sweet, the way he treated me so differently. I kissed him back, feeling him bite my lip. I laughed as I pulled away. “You’re eager.” I teased, turning around in his arms and wrapping my arms around his neck. He grinned, trailing kisses down my neck and shoulders. The perks of my shirt being baggy, is that one side always falls and shows my shoulder.
Before we knew it, we were sneaking early into the church. I held my bat, and the flashlight while D slid us in. Rather, we walked in because the doors were unlocked. “What are you doing here?” A voice spoke behind us. D grabbed my hand and pushed me into one of the closets, shutting the door. I heard it lock. It locks from the outside. Fuck. “D..” I spoke up. “Shh, we’re okay. Just wait it out.” He spoke softly. We were in such a tiny space, and my bat dropped out there. FUCK. I grabbed D by the collar of his shirt, before slamming my lips against his. Gotta take my mind off this situation somehow. I pushed against him, hearing the preacher talking outside. Assholes. D soon pulled away from me, and grinned. “Damn, Tain.” He spoke lowly while a smile spread to his features. I rolled my eyes, before crossing my arms.
Soon, church was over. I heard the closet door unlock. Who was out there? “You can come out now.” That same voice. I opened the door, which for some odd reason swung outward, and crossed my arms as my gaze hit their's. “So? Why were you two sneaking inside?" They spoke up. "None-" I set my hand on Darien's arm. "Don't loose your cool." I spoke softly, before looking at them. "What's your name?" I asked. "Aide. Aide Mihr."
