She put the small bear in her pocket as Smith helped her to her feet. She took a deep breath and watched as Smith walked back towards the camera room. She continued to look at the dresser in front of her. She began to push it slowly off the door. She finally pushed it out of the way and glanced over at the camera room. She noticed no one had come out yet. She looked down at Carol one more time. She walked over to Carol and bent down and picked up her hand. A diamond ring shimmered in the light about. “You had a family?” She stood back up and looked at the guys who were all looking at the cameras. She looked at the gun that was peeking out of the back of John’s pants.
“It does look like it is safe to travel right now. Those things are near the entrance of the store. If we are quick enough, we can leave without any of them even knowing.” Smith said as he pointed at two of the screens.
“We should hurry then. Traveling before the sun is fully out is our best bet, if there are more outside.” John added.
“I say we just stay here still. I mean, we have food, we can lock ourselves in this room when others come, and we even having a working sink with water. We are set for a while, till help arrives.” Tim said as he looked to Ted for support.
“When the power goes out, this room will become hot. The food in the freezers and fridges will start to spoil, which could create an awful odder also. As much as I don’t want to leave either, it is the best idea. We don’t even know if help is coming.” Ted replied as he tried to comfort Tim.
Tim shook him off and walked back towards Sara, “Do you really want to leave with this guy that just killed someone with hesitation. What if he decides that we are dangerous? He has no proof he is even a doctor.”
Sara bit her lip as she began to re think leaving, “Shut up, Tim. Sara, don’t listen to him. He is just being a. Coward.” Smith walked out of the room and put his hand on Tim, “Don’t you ever go around me, to my cousin. We don’t need everyone turning against one another.” He pushed Tim away from Sara and towards the door, “We are going to head out now. Tim, you can come with us or stay behind. Time to decided now.”
Sara began to feel the tension between Tim and Smith. She wanted to speak but found no words coming out John and Ted walked towards the door.
Ted slowly started to open the door and peaked out. He noticed nothing around. He opened the door more and everyone started to walk out the door towards the backdoor where employees usually came in from. Sara glanced back to see Tim holding his head down as he followed. Ted got to the door first and slowly pushed on it. It began to crack open, letting a cool breeze from outside come in. Sara noticed a full cart that seemed to be all canned food in front of the ilal near them. She stopped and turned towards Tim. He bumped into her and looked up. She pointed at the cart and he seemed to nod. It seemed like the cart was one of the restacking ones. The others seemed not to notice as Sara and Tim walked over to the cart. Sara peaked into the ilal as she slowly pulled it back towards the door. Tim helped make sure it didn’t hit the anything. As it slowly rolled, Tim got on the other end of the cart. Smith finally turned to let Sara go out before him to see that they were pushing a cart full of cans towards them. He looked around nervously and wanted to tell them to leave it for the time being. He knew it would be loud once it hit the pavement outside to push. Sara’s back was turned towards him as she pulled the heavy cart back. Everyone froze as something from the other side of the store fell to the ground. It sounded like glass, that must have been nocked over. A screen echoed in the store as one of the things was staring at them from the other side of the ilal. It began to run towards them.
“Leave the cart!” Sara and Tim let go of the cart. And ran towards the door. As everyone made it through, Ted slammed the door behind them. He put his weight against it as something on the other side rammed into it. The door flinched as he shoved it closed again.
Find something to block the door now!” He yelled.
“No point! We have to run. Looks like there were a few in the parking lot that heard the door slam.” John replied as he pointed around the corner.
Ted shoved the door closed again as it popped open slightly from the thing on the other side shoving, “You guys need to start running.”
“You’re going to run with us idoit. I’m not going to leave my brother.” Tim yelled as he began to push on the door also, “You three go. Ted and I will meet up with you later. What is the building called you live in?”
“Wind Hill Apartments.” John replied as he tossed over a small card, “Use this to get in the building.” Tim nodded as they shoved the door closed.
“We need to go now. We might be able to distract the other things away from them.” John replied as he faced Smith.
He nodded and grabbed Sara’s hand as he turned and began to run after John.
“You two better not die.” Smith said as he waved his hand in the air.
