Note: Kion is pronounced Key-on
”So how is it going?”, a concerned deep voice asked.
”Fine, I guess.”, I answered bluntly, my eyes finally adjusting to the dimmed lighting.
”Don't tell me you’re failing me, Violet.”, the man sighed.
”No, Kion, it's just… I messed up and I don't want him to hate me.” I lowered my head, sitting in the cushioned chair as my finger traced the armrest.
Kion smirked, ”Don't tell me you’re falling in love, Violet.”
I raised my head shocked by what he said, ”W-What no!”, the chair creaked at my movements.
Kion sat in his seat and flipped through a book, ”Okay then, so start getting serious.”, his smirk turned into a frightening stare.
”I want information about Leon Tayga and for him to join us, not some girly romance story.”, Kion kept his eyes locked on me before turning to face the window.
”Yes, sir.”, I mumbled placing my hands in my lap.
”That's my girl!”, Kion smiled turning to me.
Kion was strange, once moment he could be smiling and positive and the other he could give you a frightening glare. Leaving the room I stepped into the hall seeing nothing and hearing silence. Everyone was probably patrolling right now.
…
The time was 7:15 pm I was anxious about Leon and what happened. Was he mad at me and wasn't going to pick me up? I wanted to text him but didn't want to make things worse.
My phone buzzed, ”Leon!”, I cried out sounding like a 5-year-old when they get a toy.
The message read he was on his way, I smiled to myself. In relief, I threw myself on the sofa. Looking down at my work clothes I quickly ran to my room to change.
I grabbed a dress from my closet and pulled it over my head. The dress was red and silky, showing a bit of cleavage. I slipped on some black heels and grabbed my bag. I checked my phone to see it was 7:30 and saw headlights outside the window of my apartment. Quickly checking myself in the mirror, and fixing my hair I quickly rushed out the door.
I took a deep breath and started approaching the car. I saw Leon’s eyes meet mine as he looked up from his phone. I felt nervous for some reason wondering why he even still agreed to do this.
I opened the door and sat in the front passenger seat, ”Hey.”, I said softly.
He glanced over at me, ”Hey.”, he pulled out of the parking lot and started on the road.
The drive was silent and awkward. Not a word from either of us only the sound of the road and cars passing by. I watched the glowing city lights as we passed by them, every once in a while I would glance over to look at Leon’s blank look, keeping his eyes on the road.
I placed my hand on his forearm as he stirred with one hand, ”Look, I'm really sorry and I will do anything to make it up to you.”
Nothing but silence came back to me as I saw his grip tightened on the wheel, ”Please Leon.”, I mumbled.
He pulled into the parking lot that was slightly dimmed. It looked to be a pub that we pulled up to. I heard laughing and people’s voices from inside as Leon avoided my eye contact.
He finally met my gaze. ”Well want to go on?”, he asked.
I gave him a narrow look, ”Why are you avoiding my apology?”
He gave me a blank stare, ”What are you trying to gain from this Violet?”
”Excuse me?!”, I raised my voice.
”I actually want to get to know you, thank you very much, I'm not trying to gain anything.”, I didn't remove my eyes from his expression.
” Let's just go in, please.”, Leon groaned.
I swung open the door in anger nearly hitting the car parked next to us. Leon followed in behind me as I stomped into the building. We walked to a table next to a window looking out to the city, this was a two-story pub so you could see the cars pass by and the lit-up buildings complement the dark sky. Before I could sit down Leon pulled the chair out for me as I slammed myself on to it and pouted.
He pulled out his seat and sat across from me, ”I ordered two beers, that ok with you?”, he asked, as if he actually cared.
”Yeah, it's fine.”, I pouted tracing the details in the table with my finger.
”Tell me about The Black Cross then.”, Leon's voice became intrigued.
I looked at him confused, ”Well, we are an organization who protects this city.”
”What do you mean to protect?”, Leon leaned back in his chair.
”From the psychopathic ghouls, all of us aren't the same you know.”, I said folding my arms.
”Yeah, I know.”, Leon shot back.
”If you really want to know about TBC you should come by sometime.”, I requested as our drinks arrived, I took a sip of my beer.
”Like hell, I don't want to be around hundreds of straghouls.”, Leon chuckled taking a gulp of his drink.
”Sorry then can't tell you.”, I smirked.
”What? What does that have to do with you not telling me about it?”, Leon panicked focusing his eyes on me.
”you'll just have to see if you come, I'll show you around, come on.”, I teased with a smirk still on my face.
”I’ll think about it, and sorry for ignoring you earlier.”, he mumbled.
I giggled and smiled at his childish look, ”Hey it's my fault, I'm the one who made you mad.”
I rose to my feet and stepped forward meeting his side. I sat on his lap my legs resting on his thigh. I could see his face slightly turn red. I looped my arms around his neck and leaned into his chest, as I heard his heartbeat.
”What is it?”, Leon asked as our eyes met again.
I stroked his face and played with his hair, ”Nothing.”
I pressed my forehead against him as I felt his warm breath on my lips. Our eyes gazed into each other, nothing but the sound of the haulers and chuckles from downstairs. I leaned my body into his.
The urge took over my body, I gently pressed my lips against his. I felt him flinch at the movement, but he seemed to relax. I felt the warmth of his hand move to my thigh, it was soft and gentle to the touch.
His lips and touch distracted me from the sound of voices coming up the stairs. The slightly dimmed room set the right mood as I seemed to be in a dream of sweetness and comfort. I shocked back into reality when I heard the voices come closer to the room.
We pulled our lips away from each other, ”We should probably get going huh?”, I asked softly, my face heated and red.
He nodded as I hopped off his lap. We traveled to the car, trying to wrap my mind around what just happened. Was it the alcohol? I wasn't drunk, he wasn't drunk. Why did I do that?
…
The drive to my apartment was quiet, similar to the drive to the pub. I felt his hand entwined in mine, looking over at him with a small smile across his lips. I blushed to turn away to look out the window.
