"BURN THE WITCH", said the crowd as they burned my mother on a cross. I stood there in fear, hidden in the shadows. I came to a realization. How cruel a world can truly be. The only difference between the world before and now is the reality of being a good "person". This all started because I'm a pushover and too kind. Let me explain.

My name was Harato Takashi. I was a student at XXX High School, and it was terrible. Being asked to do tasks that others were too lazy to do for themselves. I was only verbally bullied, so I'm glad it wasn't worse. My life got better after a girl surprisingly confessed to me not too long ago. We dated for 3 months, then she randomly told me she cheated and she was breaking up with me, right in the middle of the busy sidewalk. The guy was apparently in the crowd, he appeared and they started to cross the street together. I was in shock. How could she just do that, and pretend none of it happened or mattered? What shocked me more was that as they were all lovey-dovey, a truck was getting a little too close and didn't pull the breaks. The last thing I remember is pushing them both out the way. To be honest, i died with a smile. I remember my ex running towards me, the last words I heard her scream:

"TAKASHI!!"

Gods Blessing

I stayed in dark for a while, I was unable to move. After about a couple of minutes, I saw a white light gradually become more prominent. Before I knew it I was in a room, that appeared to be in the sky. I don't think I was surprised as I was supposed to be. Two figures came down from the sky, as they came closer they took the form of two human males. Before I had a chance to speak the black-haired one opened his mouth.

"I am the god of war, Yato. This here is the god of learning, Tenjin", said the black-haired god pointing at the grey-haired god. "We have grown interested in your life, and decided to give you our blessing".

What does it mean to have their blessing? Does that mean I have their protection? Do I get powers? What would it be? Does it come with a cost? I thought to myself.

"Yes, this means you have our protection. You can obtain our powers and skills, but only at a cost." 

I knew it, i could be making a deal with the devil. Also- Is he reading my mind?

"To get a chance to obtain this power, you will be transferred to a life of dungeons and adventurers. Magic will be rare, but fighting is ordinary. But you will be given the worst position you could be in. The bright side is every time you achieve a quest from your quest list you get a skill, and every time you complete an achievement you get power. I've made it so it looks like a game, now it should be easy for you to understand. So, what do you think?"

The grey-haired god hasn't spoken at all. As matter of a fact, I haven't talked to them since I came, so I decided not to speak at all. I wouldn't want to anger them. I don't want to repeat my old life nor do I want to suffer in a cruel world, but if I can end up at the top in the magical world it would be better than my old life. After some thought, i raised my thumb and smiled.

Both gods, looking pleased, smiled. "Good choice", they said in unison as the ground below me disappeared. A voice spoke in my head right before I hit the ground.
