As I slowly came back to my consciousness, I felt something heavy pressing on my chest making it hard form me to breath. “Ughh…heavy.” I managed to groan out with my eyes still closed shut.
“Wake up you evil child.” I could hear an all too familiar voice sneering above me. I opened my eyes to meet with Kuro’s pale blue eyes. I always adored those eyes it made me feel safe somehow.
“Are you finally awake.” He asked.
The realization that my cat has been talking to me for a while has finally hit me causing me to push him away from me in shock. He somehow evaded it by jumping high up and landed on my already stretched out arm.
“Seriously? I don’t remember you ever being so violent.” He said annoyed.
I glared at him. “Yeah, well, I don’t ever recall my cat talking, do I? Also get of my arm.”
Het got of my arm and landed hard on Aiko’s stomach causing her to jump half awake in a defense stand.
“Huh!? What happened!? Who do I have to kill!?” She yelled in a confused state of mind.
I couldn’t help but snicker. “Aiko, chill. You don’t have to kill anyone, yet.” I said emphasizing ‘yet’ while glaring at Kuro. “It all depends on the talking cat right now.”
She gave me a complexed look wondering if everything was alright with me, but as soon as the sleepiness had left her body her eyes widens in realization recollecting the happening that took place yesterday.
She took slowly a normal stand, looked down at Kuro and looked then at me. She repeated that for another two times until she let out an “oh”.
“Yeah.” I hunched down until I almost came eye to eye with Kuro. “Oh.”
He growled a little bit in annoyance. “If you just let met talk and explain things to you- “
“Ughh but I don’t feel like listening to anyone today. I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I sure as hell do miss school.” At the word of school, I shot up in fright.
“School!” I glanced behind looking at my wings. “Wings!”
I paced around in full frantic. “How can I hide my wings!? I can’t go to school like this! I’ll be even more of a freak than I already am. Even worse I will be locked up in another facility where they’re going to cut me open peace by peace!”
“Now it’s your time to chill out, Ayako.” Aiko said.
“How am I supposed to chill out when there’s something huge attached to my back!?” I yelled while pulling a little but at my hair in frustration.
Kuro’s loudly cough made me stop in my tracks.
“That’s why I am here, get it? Now if your finally done with pulling your hair out how about sitting down and listen to me for a chance.” He said.
I listened to what he said and sat down. “Okay, I’m listening.” I raised my eyebrow in expectation.
He sighed relieved. “Thank god. First of say; ‘hide, my wings’.”
“Okay.” I said doubtful. “Hide, my wings.” The stone on my bracelet shone bright, blinding my eyes. “What the…!?” I had to blink a few times before I could see again.
Aiko gasped as she was pointing at my back. “Your wings.” She said.
I looked behind to see that my wings really did disappear. “Wow!” I exclaimed in surprise.
“The bracelet that your parents gave you have to ability to hide your true form. It’s also a family crest.” Kuro pointed out.
“I know that we didn’t start out great…” He glanced at me. “but I would like to formally introduce myself, I am Kuro your celestial beast.”
“What’s a celestial beast? “I really got to brush up on my magical thermology.
“We are guiders of the family that we are assigned to. We teach them about their powers and how to control them; at the same time we tutor them about the magical world.”
“So…basically you’re my magic teacher?” I asked.
He nodded. “That’s correct. A fairy child is supposed to be educated from the moment they are born since we don’t know how powerful that child is, but in your case, we weren’t able to do that.”
“Because I hadn’t turned 16 yet. You also made a promise with my mom I see.”
“Yeah, I promised her to just watch over you until you reach the suitable age. If I could I would have just killed everyone of there and rescued your parents, but I couldn’t. I’m a failure as a guardian.” His teeth and claws became elongated in frustration.
I suddenly felt bad. Kuro knew my mom from the moment she was born. He’s the one who feels the most awful about what happened to my parents.
“Hey Kur- “
“Well there’s no time to waste.” He snapped with his fingers as he said that and out of thin air bunch of books appeared landing in front of me.
He laid his paw on the stack of thick books. “We don’t know when those creatures are going to pop up again, so by then we have to be prepared to fight and there is no way that I can let a basically newborn fairy out in the outside with zero knowledge about how our world works like.”
Stricken in fear I stared at the pile of books. They were huge, but most alarming they were thick; like some law code book thick.
I swallowed anxiously. “You expect me to read all of ‘that’?”
As I said that I could see Kuro’s evil glint in his eyes. “No, no of course not.” He said smiling. “this is not even one percent of what you have to read. The rest of it is in a different dimension, which we have to go to now by the way.”
All the blood had been drained from my face as horror of the truth had stricken me. I slowly stood up and inched away towards the door in an attempt to escape.
“Oh no you don’t.” with another snap of his small fingers a long rope appeared wrapping itself around me tightening to halt any movement; pulling me back towards my doom.
“No! let me go you son of a mutant cat!” Any plan to escape became futile.
I looked at Aiko who saw all of this unfold. “Help. Me!” I cried out in desperation.
Kuro smirked. “Well isn’t that a great idea, she could study with you!”
Hearing that Aiko started to inch away towards the door.
“Aiko?” I asked.
I could hear Kuro opening a portal to only God knows where making me more frantic to get out of this bondage.
“Sorry Ayako. I can’t study with you, also we got school tomorrow so I can’t stay with you for too long.”
“Bull. Shit! You always sleepover on Sunday, school or no school.”
She just gave me an apologetic laugh while she was opening the door towards her freedom leaving me behind.
“Shall we go?” Kuro asked as he stepped into the portal pulling me slowly with him heightening the panic in me.
“Aiko don’t do this. You’re my best friend. If I die you die with me ain’t no choice!” I know that I sound really pitiful right now but studying isn’t really my favorite and those books aren’t a joke they mean business; business that I can’t handle.
“Sorry Ayako, but for this one you got to die alone.” She saluted me as she swooshed away.
I gasped. “You bit- “I couldn’t finish my heartfelt sentence towards my best friend as I was yanked in to the black swirling portal.
