"Boring."
I sighed for the nth time this evening.
My first contact with the high society was not as good as I expected.
Oh well, I guess this is not a surprise considering that this body is that of a 5-year-old child.
This body’s parents just briefly introduced me to some of their acquaintances before dispensing me.
And besides some brief looks thrown at my direction, no person showed interest in this young little blonde boy who was walking around the party as he tried to identify some familiar character from the novel.
Unfortunately, most of the people there had not even been as much as mentioned in the novel. As for the rest... For some unknown reason, the number of blonde-haired people was incredibly high. If they didn’t have some kind of distinct feature, I couldn’t recognize them just using the descriptions from the novel.
Now that I think of it, the number of minor and cannon fodder characters in the novel with blonde hair was quite significant.
And their hair color was awfully close to my last life here...
This pissed me off somehow.
D*nm author, did you hate me so much?
I guess the most I can do now is to hear the conversations of those near me hoping to hear a familiar name somewhere.
I sat near a wall, sipping my grape juice as I tried to fish a familiar name in the middle of those boring business talkings around me.
“… and the Rosenwoods ...”
I stopped sipping my juice. I finally had heard a familiar surname. Unfortunately, it was the one that I least wanted to hear.
Rosenwoods. A surname I dreaded. The one who mentioned the surname was at my left. He was a middle-aged man, maybe something around 5’75 “feet and a little overweight, his head was bald and he carried quite the nice black mustache. In the middle of an ocean of blondes, his appearance was very singular. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about his four companions as all of them were blonde, had handsome features, and were green or blue-eyed...
Anyway, from what I’ve heard it seemed like the government would auction off the rights for a large scale rebuilding project of an important area in the capital.
Many companies were showing interest in this project and from what they were saying, the Rosenwood conglomerate was also one of the interested parties.
That didn’t surprise me. If this project was as promising as those businessmen seemed to think, then it was almost certain the Rosenwood conglomerate would get involved They weren’t the main economic force of the Federation for nothing.
However, nothing good would come to me if I got involved with this family...
Suddenly the surrounding voices stopped. Every single gaze turned to look at the entrance of the grand hall. Man and woman adjusted their posture and clothes, trying to make them seem more refined, more arrogant. More Alpha.
I knew some kind of bigshot should have arrived. And probably rather unexpectedly too if the brief looks of surprise and excitement that some party participants were too slow to hide could serve as a clue.
I looked at the direction of the entrance but could see nothing as a sea of alphas surrounded whoever had entered the saloon. I was not in a hurry to discover who this bigshot was. Anyhow, from the excitement of the surrounding alphas, I would know it soon enough. As for now, I would just continue to sip on my juice.
Well, that was my plan, but soon enough a woman in a red dress came to me.
“Come here “
This body’s mother seemed considerably impatient as she held my hand and forced me to follow her.
“Listen here, you better cause a favorable impression to the people I’ll introduce you to. Understood?”
“Who are they, mother?”
“They are very important business partners. If it weren’t for this partnership, our industry wouldn’t be even half as big as it is today “
That was surprising. Alphas didn’t like to show need or dependency for anyone as they thought only the weak did so. To openly admit a dependency without feeling ashamed... In other words, this big shot should come from a very powerful and wealthy family. Probably pure-blooded alphas.
An alpha was considered pure-blooded if at least five generations of their ancestry were composed solely of alphas. Considering how difficult it was to conceive between alphas, I probably could count the number of pure families in my fingers.
I know the Riverstone was not one of these families as this body’s mother was only a first-generation and this body’s father was a third generation.
I wonder who are they?
There was a good chance of them being at least a side character of the story. Maybe this big shot would be the answer to my successful escape.
The woman guided me with great precision around the crowd. I don’t know how she even found any space to pass through as the agglomeration had a very respectable size.
Somehow I remembered the scenes in my last life of fanatic fans surrounding their Idols. This scene kinda reminded me of it.
Someway or another, we finally got to the front of the crowd. This body’s father was standing there, waiting for us. The features of this body quite resembled him, though they were more delicate. His icy steel eyes reminded me of the woman as they also held no emotion or whatsoever.
“Finally. Come.”
He led us to greet a family of three. Just from their posture, I could tell they differed from most of the party’s attendants. Their arrogance seemed to be inborn. Just standing next to them would cause a more weak-willed person to feel inferior, not worthy of even looking at their faces.
They were the perfect embodiment of most alphas desires. The man was blonde and had red eyes. He let a small smile after looking at our direction. On his left side was a woman with a pearl-like skin, black eyes, and hair. She seemed to have some Asian ancestry and was very handsome.
After analyzing the couple, I finally put my eyes on the young man at their side. Or maybe I should say I had no more excuses to not look at him.
I was just trying to deceive myself.
If I had to say, this man attracted more attention than the couple themselves. Though his features were young, he was very tall. Just by looking at him, I would say he looked like a 14 or 15 years old teen, but I knew he was no older than 11.
He inherited his parents’ best features, and I would dare anyone to find a defect on his impeccable face. His hair was raven black and his cold red gaze made one not simply able to call him an alpha. Comparing him to most of them would be an insult to this boy.
I couldn’t take my eyes out of him, but that was not because of awe. It was because he was the person I wanted to avoid the most. Yet, he was the first important character I found until now.
“Adrian, how are you?”
“Mr. Rosenwood, it has been a while “
Yes, these people were part of the same family I said I dreaded. To be specific, the son of this couple would become quite the man in a decade. The still immature boy in front of me was Sebert Rosenwood, the biggest villain of the novel.
