“What’s that supposed to mean?!” I asked him. How did I act different when I was outside.

“Well for starters you are a lot more anxious. You also hide yourself from everyone. You don’t walk with your head up. You mumble or whisper instead of talking like a normal person.” Damon said counting off on his fingers.

“Okay, okay! I got it.” I said swatting his hand down.

“Are you feeling better?”

“Yeah after eating some toast I don’t feel to bad. I might go to class today since I only have two classes and they’re both in the afternoon.” I said drinking more water.

“Okay, then I guess I’ll be heading out then.”

“Where are you going?” I asked him.

“I got to go to work. This apartment doesn’t pay for itself.” He said and grabbed his phone and wallet.

“Then I guess I’ll see you later.”

It was boring being in the apartment alone. I continued to eat a few pieces of toast and I drank some water so that I wouldn’t feel too bad during class.

By the time it was time to leave for class I had cleaned all the dirty dishes and vacuumed the living room. I even organized his bookshelf by genre, that’s how bored I was.

The walk to class was about as uneventful as it could have been. I almost forgot how to get there but I made it five minutes before class started.

I went all the way to the back corner. I always sat in the back because you were less noticeable. I froze when I saw Dirk and his buddies walk in.

Since when have they had this class? I don’t remember seeing them in here.

My mind flashed back to that day as I stared at them. Then the worst thing happened, he looked right at me. And he smiled! What the hell is wrong with him?! He smiled like some creepy ass stalker.

I did the only thing that I thought was right and pulled out my phone about ready to text Damon. Then I realized I didn’t have his number so I texted Jake instead.

JAKE CAN U GIVE ME DAMON”S # RLLY QUICK?

sure, what’s it for tho?

I JUST REALLY NEED TO ASK HIM SOMETHING.

k.

I was grateful that Jake didn’t ask more questions after that because I really didn’t want to tell him the real reason. So, I texted Damon, but felt guilty after sending the text.

THIS IS MAX. CAN YOU PICK ME UP AFTER CLASS,PLS?

Sure? But why?

I’LL TELL YOU ON THE WAY HOME.

K, when’s your class over?

AN HOUR

At least I don’t have to worry about Dirk doing something, probably. After the bell goes off, I’ll just sprint to my other class that was only twenty minutes long then I would leave the school as fast as I could. I knew Dirk would be in the other class because you had to take both classes. You couldn’t take one and not the other, so I just had to be careful and not let him get me alone. Yes, that exactly what I’ll do. I’ll stay in a crowd so that he couldn’t get me cornered.

A slow burn romance(boys love) where Max has to continuously be put through hell just because he's gay but he doesn't let that stop him from being who he is. When life brings you down and slaps you in the face you just have to get back up and slap life even harder.
