Birds chirps echoed throughout the kingdom, as the sun's light shined brightly into the castle “ughn… morning already…?” Jennifer rolled over covering her face with her blanket before shooting up “IT’S MORNING!” Jennifer jumped out of bed getting caught on her sheet falling to the ground, she stood up slicking back her messy oburn hair sighing loudly, Jennifer quickly threw on a jacket, still in her light pink pajamas that grazed the floor ever so slightly. She ran down the hall and toward the stairs, she tripped and nearly fell down the stairwell but was caught by one of the knights guarding the stairs, Laurence. “Better be careful princess, wouldn’t want to get hurt on my watch.” “thanks Laurence.” she moved closer to him and whispered into his ear being lightly tickled by his puffy jet black hair “but we all know you only care because if i get hurt on your shift you’ll be the one not getting paid.” “your a smart one, you.” Laurence smacked her upside the head, Jennifer pushed her hand into his face and then descended down the stairs getting happier and happier the closer she came to the bottom. Excited, Jennifer ran out into the courtyard, the drawbridge was already open, terrified she missed it she looked around, she didn't see anything so she stayed put, not long after a horse lead carriage came across the bridge. Jennifer stood happily awaiting the carriage, as it pulled up in front of her she smiled wide, the carriage came to a stop and the man hopped down from the carriage opening the door, a woman's leg stepped out from the carriage followed by a long dress, a woman was then visibly out of the carriage, she had brown hair tied up in a bun, light but visible makeup. She was wearing a long light blue dress with a black corset over top with brown high-heeled boots. She turned and looked at Jennifer and instantly smiled, she then tried to hold a straight face as she slowly walked over to her “hello there stranger” “hello to you to, Lila.” the two then giggled and hugged “it’s been too long! Ugh! I have so much to tell you!” “I could say the same!” Lila and Jennifer looked around to see the dirty looks they received from the maids and knights around, they looked to one another Jennifer merly rolled her eyes clasping Lila’s hands in her own “You wouldn’t beli-” Jennifer was cut off by Lila clearing her throat and pulling her hands out of Jennifer’s clasp shaking her hands slightly before putting her hands together neatly and lowering them to sit comfortably in front of herself, Jennifer’s excited smile slightly dropped at the sight of her friends obvious discomfort. “Why don’t we head inside, I'm positive The King is expecting me to check in, we can speak more later” Lila smiled softly, the soft smile that Jennifer could never help but blush because of. Jennifer sighed lightly and looked to Lila forcing a smile “definitely! I will see you later then!” Lila nodded and walked off, Jennifer was put off by her newly found posture and attitude, she was definitely the same Lila but something about her was different, was it from where she had been throughout fall to spring? Was it because of Jennifer, or did it have to do with being back? Jennifer wasn’t quite certain but was determined to figure it out.
As the evening breeze lightly grazed across Jennifer’s face there came a knock upon her door, Jennifer scoffed and sat up, she sighed and opened her door to see metal, she rolled her eyes as she looked up, meeting eyes with a knight with strawberry blonde hair, bright blue eyes and a confident smile on his face “hey.” the word rolled off his tongue seductively, Jennifer sighed heavily “Daniel, what do you want?” Daniel cleared his throat and wiggled his eyebrows slightly “Well you see- I happen to be going on break and was wondering if yo-” Daniel was cut off by Jennifer slamming the door in his face, he stood silently for a second staring blankly at the door before banging on it “HEY! LET ME FINISH DAMMIT!” Jennifer tried to bear the begging and frantic knocking, eventually cracking and opening the door, Daniel sighing, slicking his hair back, he leaned seductively in the doorway “as I was saying- I am on my break and was wondering if you wanted to come into town with myself and some of the other guards?” Jennifer paused before sighing “fine. I’ll come, give me 15 minutes.” “YES! Meet us in the courtyard!” Daniel excitedly sprinted down the hall and down the steps screaming for Laurence and another guard.
Laurence, Daniel and another guard with white hair were talking when they looked over to see Jennifer walking over, her arms crossed, she was wearing a light pink dress with brown lining the bottom, she had her hair tied up in a cute pink ribbon and was wearing brown boots you could easily tell went much higher than they appeared. “Well aren’t you a sight for sore ey-” Laurence was smacked on the back of the head by Daniel “ow! What the heck!?” Jennifer tried to not laugh only letting a small snicker slip out. The other guard accompanying them stared at Daniel and smiled mischievously “is that drool I see?” Laurence jokingly gasped “IT IS!” Daniel sighed angrily “will you two knock it off?” “Artemis started it.” “DID NOT!” “DID TOO!” “uh were you not the one to make the ‘Sore Eyes’ comment?” Laurence paused for a moment to think “w-well yes, HOWEVER, I didn’t make any comments directed toward Dani-” “SHUT UP BOTH OF YOU! I’m beginning to regret ever inviting yo-” Daniel cut himself off to realize that Jennifer had already walked away.
Jennifer sat along the edge of a bright blue pond, the water was so clear you could see all the weeds slightly swaying, the way the frogs hide in the willow leaves that sat neatly in the water, and the way the sun reflected off the fish, Jennifer sighed throwing a rock into the water, watching the way the water ripped and the rock kicking up sand as it hit the bottom of the pond. Jennifer went to stand up, getting caught on her dress that had been tucked under the heel of her boot, being sent straight into the pond. Jennifer cursed loudly and she wiped her eyes of water to hear familiar laughter echoing from the shore, she looked to see Lila laughing hysterically, her hand placed against a nearby willow tree for balance “what’s so funny?” Jennifer jokingly scoffed, Lila calmed herself down “do you need help?” Lila snickered holding out her hand to Jennifer “why thank you.” Lila opened her mouth to reply before gasping as she was tugged into the water.
A loud splash echoed throughout the meadow followed by giggling “common! I just got this dress!” “lighten up! You can always get a new one” Lila annoyingly grinned at Jennifer’s comment before splashing at her, Jennifer laughed and looked at Lila, blushing lightly after realizing she had been staring, Lila noticed Jennifer's fluster and threw a nearly lily pad at her, Jennifer gasping “OH! So the Princess does play dirty!” Lila giggled, as the two began throwing sand and lily pads at one another, laughing loudly. An angry grunt came from shore “WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING!?” Lila and Jennifer looked over to see a very mad blonde girl, not much older than themselves, who was wearing a bright pink dress fitted with a corset “uh having fun? You know, the thing you don’t know how to do.” Lila quietly snickered at the comment and the girl at shore just scoffed, crossing her arms. “You shouldn’t be talking, how would your mom feel if she found out about this?” Lila gasped and started to exit the water, Jennifer grabbing her arm “Don’t worry about her Lila, she’s a prick, but she wouldn’t dare make an accusation so bold if she had no evidence.” Lila awkwardly moaned as the girl at shore rolled her eyes “your both so unladylike, how do you call yourselves Royalty?” Lila shuddered at the word ‘unladylike’ “I-I’m sorry Jenny- I have to go.” Lila climbed out of the water and ran off toward the castle “HA! So much for your friend!” “Oh shut up Chloe. Your not even real Royalty, your just considered a princess cause’ your mother’s a whore and happened to get a king to somehow like her enough to marry her, he’s not even your real dad, plus he’s like 80 years older than your mom.” Chloe gasped, throwing her arms angrily to her sides “yeah well at least I’m a child of God and not a Sinner like you!” Jennifer rolled her eyes, mumbling under her breathe “says the one who doesn’t even know who her dad is-” Chloe scoffed “what was that!?” Jennifer sighed “Oooooh, nothing-” Chloe rolled her eyes and walked away.
Jennifer sunk into the water, closing her eyes sinking down to the bottom, left only to her thoughts. She then looked up to the surface opening her eyes, admiring the way the sun shone through the willow trees that had just come into bloom and glistened on the surface, dancing on the top of the water, letting light lightly graze the sandy bottom of the pond. Jennifer had become so relaxed she hardly realized the loud echo in the water, and the strong ripple of the surface, only gasping as she reached her last breathe, breaching the surface abruptly, she had become so numb that she hardly heard the three guards shouting loudly, or her mother and father's screams, or having to sit in a church reciting one hundred Hail Mary’s, she had become so tired she hardly remembered dining with her parents and the two other families at the dinner table, or passing Lila through the halls, whose mother glared angrily at her as she was walking toward her room, all she felt was an empty feeling weighing on her chest.
