Author's Note - Part 2 of The Dance is dedicated to LesboFurry101(^^). Also i'm sorry this is so long. I was on a roll. Its around 7,200 words...... ;P
It's been a year since I completed the dance and forcefully moved the spirit on. I had somehow managed to move on with my life. And that says a lot considering all but one of my other family members are dead. About half died trying to complete the dance. While the other half died of their own bad judgement.
I know what you're thinking "How though". Well my great-grandfather died because he was driving on the highway blindfolded for a fifty-dollar bet. His last words were "I win. Pay up."..... Enough said..... Anyway my only living relative is my great-great-grandmother who is somehow immune to the stupidity that seems to be inevitable in our family.
She wanted to see me and since I wasn't going to make my elderly Grandmother travel. I was currently on a plane flying to her house *cough* *cough* mansion *cough* in Virginia. The entire place is constantly cold and covered in dust.
There are also maids and butlers that you literally NEVER see. When I was little I would run around trying to find one. I even set traps for them. To this day I've still never seen even one of them. I would assume my grandmother has problems and they're not even real. But you can hear them walking around and cleaning.
I danced with a spirit and it was less creepy than this place. Anyway, I was thrown out of my thoughts on how creepy the place was when my plane landed. I grabbed my bag and waited at the entrance for a taxi I called during my walk through the airport. When he pulled up he helped me load my bag into the trunk and I gave him the address.
It took him at least an hour to find the mansion. I don't blame him. The place is located in the middle of the woods. It took the poor driver two Google searches to even get close to finding the house. When he finally pulled up in the driveway I said thank you and gave him a generous tip. After pulling my bag up the stairs I nicknamed "Mt. Everest" I let myself in and traced my way to my grandmother's room.
I knocked lightly on the door, "Come in". I walked in to see my grandmother sitting in a chair by the window. Drinking a steaming cup of earl gray tea from one of the mystery maids. Her eyes lit up when she saw me, "Deary! I missed you! How have you been?!" I smiled back at her, "I missed you too Grandma. I've been good." She set her tea on the table beside her and practically ran over to me.
When she got to me she grabbed my shoulders and squealed like a toddler, "You don't have any plans for today do you? Because I have something planned!" She practically jumped up and down and she said it. I couldn't say no to my really excited grandmother. "No, I don't have anything planned. We can do anything you want." She's so excited. She grinned, "Ok, Then go to your room and get settled. Dinner is in about two hours. There's an outfit in a box on your bed. Wear that." I just nodded.
Grandma loves to dress me up in whatever she thinks looks good. But she's never steered me wrong. Everything she has ever picked out for me has been amazing. I looked at my feet for my bag but of course my bag was gone. I set it down right next to me and I still didn't see a butler take it. I was used to it by now. I just sighed and headed to my room. The second I made it to my room I threw myself into the bed. That long plane ride kicked my ass.
I set an alarm on my phone for two hours and was out like a light. I woke up to a recording of me yelling "Get the hell up!" It startled me enough to where I rolled off my bed to get away from the noise. I grabbed my phone and shut it off so it would stop yelling at me. After I remembered the diner with grandma I ran to the unmarked box that I kicked onto the floor in my sleep.
Grandma got me an outfit! I ripped open the box to see the most beautiful ball gown I've ever seen. The top was white but it faded into gold in the middle of the skirt. It was beautiful. It looked like a wedding dress? There were some gold heels in the box as well. I carefully carried the slightly over the top dress to the bathroom to put it on. After what felt like two hours and a lot of cursing I managed to pull it on.
I arranged my long hair into a high ponytail braid. I pulled the gold heels on as I walked through the hallway. I followed the smell of food to the dining room/ballroom. My grandma was seated at the only table place right in the middle of the room. The table was already set and ready. As I walked over you could easily hear the sound of my heels on the floor.
It was dead silent. My grandma had the most serious look on her face that I've ever seen. As I sat down I opened my mouth to speak but Grandma cut me off, "Eat first." Her tone left no room for argument. So I started eating. There was some of everything and something that looked suspiciously like a wedding cake. I took a few bites and took a few sips (gulps) of the red wine that was set next to my plate. I looked across the table at my grandma for an explanation.
She motioned for me to eat while she talked. As I ate something that I assume is pulled pork she started talking, "When I was a girl, about your age. I had one sister. She fell in love with another girl at a ball. They danced all night together. By the end of the night they could identify each other by the way they danced. They were planning to run off and get married but I didn't think that girl was good enough for my sister. So I told our father what they were planning. He was furious. He poisoned them both by putting something in their wine glasses. And he cursed them. My sister was forced to spend eternity as a spirit waiting to dance with her lost love. While her beloved was cursed to live another life without knowing that she ever loved my sister."
I was on the edge of my set as I listened to the story, "What happened next Grandma?" I took another drink from my wine glass as she started up again, "I couldn't stand it. Seeing my sister agony and knowing I caused it. So I altered the curse to include me. I would stay alive long enough to find the reincarnation of my sister's love and bring her to dance with my sister. Only her love would be able to move her on."
I was too caught up in the story to make the connection between the girl and myself. "What happens after she moves on? Is it over?" She shook her head no, "No, after the dance she waits for her love in the afterlife." I don't know why I couldn't make the connection.
It was like I couldn't think. Everything was slightly blurred and I was starting to get dizzy. I rubbed my forehead, "Grandma?......." She gave me a smile. I tried to get up but I couldn't. I didn't have the strength. My grandma walked over and petted my hair, "I'm sorry for poisoning your wine, dear. But it's time for you to be with my sister." What?........... What did she say?....... It's..... Getting....... Dark.......

When I woke up I opened my eyes to see the spirit I danced with. She was holding me in her arms like I was a precious artifact. She gave me the happiest smile I've ever seen and for some reason I loved that she was happy. "I'm so glad you're here. I missed you so much my love."
