"Wanna hold hands?" Archer whispered into Clyde's ear as they walked. It sent a tickle through Clyde's spine. Archer should be banned from whispering.
He cleared his throat." No. I'm good." He spoke a little too loudly.
"We're supposed to be dating. How can I sell this when we look like two bros hanging out?"
He has had enough of this tickling prickly business. Hand-holding would definitely do that. God, he's not a blasted teenager to be feeling this way. People have whispered multiple times in his ear and he held a lot of hands in this lifetime. Archer's actions shouldn't have this kind of effect on him." You do know if the students saw us, they'd do the same. Do you want a hallway filled with icky teenage love?"
"I'll give every single one of them detention." He flat-out responded and he'd be applauded for it.
"An abuse of power." He glanced at Archer, clearly thinking of a comeback and a way to turn the tides into his favour. It was written all over his face. " You really wanna do something, huh? We can link arms but that's that."
Without hesitation, Archer linked his arms with Clyde's. He pulled him close enough to feel his arms against his chest. Enough to be able to smell the light perfume he was wearing. It smelled like dewdrops in the morning. He stole a quick glance at Clyde. He looked pissed, but he knows full well that's just his normal face. It used to rub him the wrong way, but he has grown to like it.
"So this is the place?" Clyde asked as they stopped in front of a classroom. No one was outside inviting customers. It does have a sign on the wall that reads Coco and Beans.
"Be warned. These kids have no filter."
Archer opened the doors. It was packed with people. The whole place was decorated with pink ribbons and gold balloons. The desks were combined to create bigger tables. Each had a plastic flower sitting at a recycled tin can. In front of the whiteboard was a lineup of desks. Different tubs of ice cream and toppings filled it. They were decorated with plastic leaves strung across the table. There was also a section of just coffee jelly.
"Welcome to Coco and Beans. We have a 2 scoop minimum policy. Our prices range from $5 to $10 depending on the weight of your ice cream. I'm glad you can make it, teacher." Lea grinned. " Same goes to you, teacher's boyfriend."
" Everything looks great," Archer spoke.
" Thanks. We reserved a seat for you." Lea guided them to their sits. In front of them were empty glass bowls and spoons.
John approached them when he finished cleaning one of the tables. "Teacher, I never thought I'd see the day you're dating a policeman."
" How did you know that?" Archer asked.
"I've seen him in uniform before."
Lea's eyes lit up. "That's why it smelled of corruption when I first met you!" She gleefully spoke.
"What are these kids saying exactly?" Clyde asked Archer. He hid his irritation through a smile.
"Typical teacher stuff. Like to never blindly follow authority, the police are working for the bourgeoisie, the growing decay of our society thanks to the rich and powerful." He spoke, nonchalant. He took something from his pocket. " For that, you get a star!" He stamped a star at the back of Lea's arm.
"You need to get fired. " Clyde spoke.
"John, look, look, I've got a star!" She boasted.
"That star's not worth anything." John annoyingly answered.
"It's worth something. I decided to help this failing class by giving out stars to those who have done something good or right today. One star equals One plus point to any quiz or test since your class barely passed the last quiz." Archer answered. John could not believe what he was hearing.
" Her calling him corrupt isn't good or right!" John argued.
Archer wagged his pointer finger at him. " Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. It is right, Johnny boy. It proves that she's been listening to me."
"Yeah, listening to you rant when you should be teaching us!"
"I have been teaching you. I'm teaching you valuable real-life skills. I'm opening your eyes towards the inner workings of society."
John surrendered to his teacher's way of thinking. He doesn't have the energy for it anymore. " Please pick your dessert and go."
Archer took a glance at the ice cream line up. His heart skipped a beat when he saw the new Strawberry flavoured ice cream he has been wanting to try. His heart beat even faster when he saw his favourite brand of Strawberry and Chocolate ice cream right next to it. " Okay, Okay. Who's idea was it to put two strawberry flavours and my favourite brand?" He asked all giddy.
" Mira and I did. We remembered in one of your rants- I mean, lectures that you've been wanting to try that, but you always end up buying your favourite brand since you didn't want to waste money." Mei answered.
Archer took his stamp and stamped Mira and Mei on the back of their hand.
"Well done! You made me so happy." He patted them on the shoulder.
" Your grading system is corrupt." Clyde scoffed
"I'm somewhat of a person in power too." He smirked.
