“Look at how tall the Prince has become. You look so fancy in your outfit today.” Christian, my maid, laughed. I was now two years old and wearing a very unconformable outfit. The pants seemed to fit okay, but the shirt had a lot of fluff from the scarf around my neck. The jacket I had on was a dark blue and seemed to have multiple gold buttons on it. I was pretty sure that one of these buttons, could have paid my rent for a year or two. I also was being made to wear the eye patch Christian had made for me as a baby. It covered my green eye up when I went outside or was around the King. He rarely came around me. It was mostly use passing in the hall as Christian carried me outside to play.
I pulled at the scarf a little and Christian moved my hand away, “Don’t pull at that. You will mess up the outfit.” I rolled my eyes and put my hands on my side as she fixed the scarf.
“This tis itchy.” I mumbled under my breath. I had to watch myself a lot when I spoke. Once I was able to make noise, I had thought myself how to pronounce most words correctly. By now, I was able to have a decent conversation with someone and understand what they are saying. Christian though hasn’t caught on that I could read yet though. I enjoy her reading to me at night. She stood up and brushed off her skirt as she smiled at me.
“You look like a Prince in that outfit.” She held out her hand and I grabbed it. Walking was a little harder to learn, since my legs seemed to have a mind of their own. I would be walking one moment just find and the next, I was on the ground. We walked out into the hallway and passed some of the maids in the hallway that were dusting.
“Look how cute Prince looks today!” Jessica smiled as we passed by.
Remona nudged her in the arm, “You mean handsome. He is a young boy, not a girl.”
“I am sincerely sorry, Prince.” Jessica lowered her hand and bowed to me suddenly.
I held back my laughter and touched her head, “Is okay.” I patted her head for a second and could feel Christian pull my hand to continue walking. We walked to the garden and I noticed another young boy around my age standing in front of another young maid, that seemed to be fixing his outfit a little. When the young maid saw us, she quickly stood straight up and bowed her head at us, “Prince, thank you for inviting us over to play.”
I looked up at Christian confused. I didn’t remember inviting anyone over. I didn’t want to say anything though. This was my first time meeting another child. Christian was fun to play with, but many times the game would end if I tripped or bombed something.
“Thank you for coming over Prince Johnathan The Forth.” Christian bowed her head towards them, and the little boy glared over at me. I tensed up when I could feel an angry vibe coming from him. Christian began to walk closer to him still holding my hand. I started to hit the brakes on my heels. This kid didn’t seem to want to meet me. Worse, I was now a male. If it was anything like I saw back in school, boys didn’t yell at one another when they disliked one another.
They used their hands and possibly objects. I noticed a lot of rocks around and tried to pull away from Christian, “Why are you trying to kill me. I am too young to die by an angry child.” I thought to myself. Christian didn’t seem to stop and pulled me all the way to them. I stood in front of him for a second till Christian pushed me forward.
“Go play while your fathers are speaking. Don’t waste this time just staring at one another.”
