Lucille asked, “Hey mom, dad? Can Asher stay the night?”
They looked at each other and grinned.
Lucille’s dad replied with “Sure, I don’t mind. Lucille go down to your old room and see if anything changed.”
I was about to follow her when I heard, “Asher stay here a second.”
I swallowed hard I was nervous for what they were going to say.
“Are we going to get grand-babies.” Lucille’s stepmom said with a big grin.
I blushed hard and I didn’t know what to say.
I finally said. “Maybe eventually.”
They grinned and let me follow Lucille to her room. I walked down the flights of stairs. I got to the hallway and heard something.
It was someone saying “no no no no,” over and over again and it was coming from Quinn’s room.
Asher walked into Quinn’s room. He saw Quinn curled in a ball in the corner of his room mumbling and other things. I walked closer to him when he heard me and turned around. He was obviously scared and was crying.
He whispered to me, “don’t come any closer I could hurt you please don’t, just go find Lucille.”
His hands were shaking and sparkling electricity off them. I was so confused about what was happening.
“What’s going on Quinn?” I calmly asked him as I walked towards him.
He was obviously scared.
He said, “Get Lucille. She can help.”
I ran and grabbed Lucille. I explained what was going on. She walked to Quinn’s room. “Is it happening again?” Lucille asked Quinn.
He nodded at her and started crying again. He was in lots of pain I could tell.
“Ash, are your horns electric proof,” Lucille asked me seriously.
“Yeah, they absorb electricity,” I told her confused.
“Ok bring them out.” She insisted.
I took my horns out.
“Ash, Quinn is covered in electricity. I can’t help him unless he holds your horns,” Lucille said frantically.
I let him. I held my head towards him and he grabbed my horns. Lucille raised Quinn’s shirt revealing his back.
She gasped, “Quinn, this must be really painful. I can see the electricity.”
He started crying from the pain he was in. He couldn’t speak. It reminded me of Spencer when my dad got to him. Lucille took her wings out. She pulled a feather off.
“Quinn you know the drill,” Lucille told Quinn.
Quinn let go of my horns and laid stomach down on his bed. Lucille sat on the bed next to his legs. I sat on a chair at the foot of the bed.
“You remember last time this hurt a little. You ready?” Lucille said holding the feather and putting her wings away.
He nodded and started crying again. Lucille pulled his shirt up again. She picked the feather into seven equal sections and put them on his back. His back turned red and the electricity slowly faded. The feathers slowly disappeared. Lucille left the room.
I was about to follow her when Quinn whimpered, “Don’t leave.”
I walked back to him. I knelt down in front of him. He stood up and hugged me.
“I’m sorry, I was in pain and this has happened before and I’m so sorry,” Quinn said while hugging me.
“What do you mean it happened before,” I asked him concerned.
“Well, I was born with a condition where at any point in my life I will create electricity. It's super painful though. Lucille’s feathers on her wings heal the pain though. Every month the pain comes back so I call Lucille and she comes to help me.” He told me.
I left the room. I looked back at him and his eyes were red with tears.
I left the room and walked down a few doors to Lucille’s old bedroom. I didn’t know what to expect but I opened the door.
