It seemed like Scott had a never-ending pile of paperwork. There was always a stack on the left corner of his desk, waiting to be read and signed. Allen had been shadowing Scott for a few weeks, and the only thing he liked about Scott announcing they were doing paperwork were his glasses. He guessed that reading over the tiny print irritated his contacts, so when he had paperwork to do, he wore those cute, round-rimmed glasses instead. They often slipped down his freckled nose, so he was constantly pushing them up.
During these times, he was supposed to be working on his own schoolwork, but instead he found himself unashamedly staring at Scott. The way his intense green eyes skimmed the words, his nose scrunching up slightly as he focused. The only way to describe it was adorable.
His grades weren’t great at the moment, to say the least.
That’s what he was doing right now, actually. He was curled up on the plush loveseat in Scott’s study, laptop resting half on the arm of the seat and half on his knee. A blank document was on the screen, but his eyes were looking over the top of it, watching the Omega as he worked. He should probably be working on the paper that was due in the next few days, but he couldn’t bring himself to even start it. Scott was much more interesting to look at anyway. Nothing had happened between them over the past few weeks, which was sort of disappointing. He was still undecided though, and he didn’t want to lead Scott on anymore than he could help.
He was so focused on his on thoughts that he didn’t even hear the footsteps approaching the study. When the door burst open, a lanky guard running into the room, Allen jumped in surprise, nearly dropping his laptop. The guard stopped and leaned over, resting his hands on his knees as he breathed heavily.
“Jesus, your Highness-“ wheeze, “why does your office gotta-“ wheeze, “be so far away from the gates?”
“Samuel,” Scott hardly looked up from the paper in front of him, though there was amusement in his tone, “What did I tell you about barging into my study?”
“Aww, don’t call me that. Makes me sound old like my dad.” He righted himself, grinning at the King.
He sighed, “Why are you here?”
“Oh! Oh, right.“ He scratched the back of his head, turning his eyes down guiltily, “We tried to stop her, but you know how she is.”
Scott furrowed his brows, finally looking up from his desk. His glasses sliding down his nose. “Who are you-“
The door burst open again, and Samuel had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. A woman stepped in, and Allen was stunned for a moment. She was well, beautiful. Her golden blonde hair fell in ringlets down her back contrasted with her sun-kissed skin. Her eyes were a pretty hazel color, like a kaleidoscope. The way that she carried herself, confidence oozing off of her, indicated that she was an Alpha.
Scott rose from his seat as she entered, a mixture of surprise and apprehension overtaking his features. She approached him quickly, and Allen didn’t miss the way he flinched slightly as he was pulled into a hug. Allen stood up as well, watching the two carefully. He didn’t like the way Scott was acting, but he truly had no idea what was going on.
“Scotty, it’s been way too long!” She laughed, but it sounded fake and breathy. She pulled away, looking Scott up and down. “It took me forever to convince Daddy to let me come visit, what with how your Palace got attacked. I can be very persuasive though.”
If this wasn’t already weird enough, things got even stranger. As she pulled away Scott lowered his head, clasping his hands together and hunching his shoulders in a submissive manner. Allen had seen the Omega in rooms filled with nothing but Alphas, and he always kept his head held high and his gaze steady. He fought the primal urge to get Scott the hell away from her and maybe bare his fangs at her for good measure. Who was this girl?
“You always have been, Princess Emeline.” His voice was soft and quiet, almost meek. He brought his hand up to push up his glasses. His hand was shaking. No one else seemed to notice. “H-how about Samuel and a few maids show you to a guest room. Once you’re settled, we can talk more.” It sounded more like a question than an actual command.
“Yes, you were probably busy. I was just couldn’t wait to see you.” She smiled and ruffled his hair.
When she turned to leave, she finally seemed to notice Allen was there. She stopped for a moment, her eyes quickly raking over him. Then she smiled coldly, fangs glinting softly in the artificial light. Then she was gone, following Samuel out of the office. The door shut with a definite click, and Scott let out a breath.
Allen wasn’t quite sure what to do. Whoever that woman was, she wasn’t good news. He stepped over to Scott and tried to place a hand on his shoulder, but the King moved out of the way before he could. “You’re dismissed for the day.” His voice was strained, like if Allen argued he might start crying.
He wanted to do just that, tell Scott that there was no way in hell that was happening. Instead he nodded stiffly, though Scott couldn’t see. “Just let me know if you need me.” He muttered before leaving the room himself.
